All Admissions by Psychiatric Hospital, Year and Statistic (HRA44) New Approved Centres: O’Casey Rooms, Fairview Community Unit, Dublin Hawthorn Unit, Connolly Hospital, Dublin Joyce Rooms, Fairview Community Unit, Dublin Newcastle Hospital, Greystones: Admissions from the Gorey area of Wexford were directed to Newcastle Hospital from February 2011 onwards St Davnet’s Hospital, Monaghan: Acute unit closed December 2011 St Senan’s Hospital, Enniscorthy: Acute unit closed February 2011 and admissions directed to Waterford Regional Hospital with the exception of those from the Gorey area of Wexford who were directed to Newcastle Hospital St Otteran’s Hospital, Waterford: Includes transfers to and from the Department of Psychiatry, Waterford Regional Hospital Removed from Register of Approved Centres 2011: St Dympna’s Hospital, Carlow Orchard Grove, Ennis, Clare Removed from Register of Approved Centres 2010: Unit 9A Merlin Park Hospital, Galway St Joseph’s Hospital, Limerick These four admissions concern only two patients from the remaining male ward of St Joseph's Hospital. These two patients were discharged to the Limerick Mental Health Service Rehabilitation Unit to facilitate their transfer to a community residence however due to very serious behavioural difficulties the service was required to re-admit both patients to St Joseph's Hospital. All patients were transferred to Bloomfield Care Centre - Bloomfield, Kylemore, Owendoher & Swanbrook Wings Psychiatric Unit and Hospital Admissions by Type of Admissions, ICD 10 Diagnostic Group, Mental Health Catment Area and Year (HRA46) Admission numbers were used instead of rates for four areas: Mental Health Catchment Area 10 East Wicklow, Wexford, South/North Tipperary and Waterford Catchment areas exclude independent-private and private-charitable centres, the Central Mental Hospital, Dundrum; St Joseph’s Intellectual Disability Service and Carraig Mór, Cork Catchment populations for Areas 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are provisional and subject to change pending confirmation from LHOs. The numbers involved however are small Mental Health Catchment Area 10 (East Wicklow): Includes acute admissions from the Gorey area following closure of the acute unit in St Senan’s Hospital, Enniscorthy Wexford Mental Health Catchment Area: Includes acute admissions to St Senan’s Hospital, Enniscorthy up to February 2011 Waterford/Wexford Mental Health Catchment Area: These areas were combined to form a new extended catchment area. It includes acute admissions from Wexford previously admitted to St Senan’s Hospital, Enniscorthy, from February 2011 and admissions for Waterford for the full year. South/North Tipperary Mental Health Catchment Area: Admissions for patients from North Tipperary were admitted to South Tipperary General Hospital up to October 2011 and are included here Figures for the Clare Catchment Area are listed in either Clare Mental Health Catchment Area or Clare Mental Health Catchment Area (1). The later will be used from 2011 onwards as it includes admissions from North Tipperary. Carlow/Kilkenny/South Tipperary became a ‘new’ extended catchment area comprising the old catchment area of South Tipperary and Carlow/Kilkenny. This is the new catchment area from 2012 onwards so it will have to be an additional category in the table.
