Officer candidate nomination form MUST be submitted to the State Association office by the due date. No nomination will be taken from the floor. II. During the State Conference, officer candidate will campaign with the delegation to greet and network. Campaign materials (flyers, posters, and buttons) may be disseminated to delegation prior to and during the State Conference. III. Officer candidates will give a two (2) minutes campaign speech to the delegation during the opening general session. The campaign speech will include the candidate’s name, school name, office campaigning for, and why he/she want to be an NTHS State Officer. IV. During the State Conference, ballots will be distributed and the delegation body will vote. The votes will be tallied and the winners announced and installed at the Closing session. In the event of a tie, the students will be given a 10 questions test containing facts about the National Technical Honor Society which may be found on the State and National Website. Make sure that your state officer meets ALL deadlines for projects, etc. for the year. Assist officers in obtaining leadership skills before board meetings and the state leadership meeting. Become familiar with basic parliamentary procedure, how to conduct a meeting, instruct the officers on what is expected of them at state meetings, etc. Assist officers with all duties assigned by the state coordinator Make sure that state officers wear the official state officers’ attire at ALL meetings, unless instructed to wear other attire, (i.e. polo or t-shirts). Collaborate and cooperate in planning of all student activities (i.e. Fall Leadership Conference, officer training, etc.) with the State Coordinator. Encourage students to run for State Office who exemplify leadership qualities, show initiative, and have a genuine desire to serve and work on a State Officer Team. STATE OFFICERS’ RESPONSIBILITIES: Show initiative and a determination to work with a student organization. Attend all assigned meetings throughout the year, act professionally and demonstrate good behavior at all times while representing the organization. Conduct opening and closing ceremonies at scheduled events. Always promote the organization in a position exciting and enthusiastic way.
