Teams of 3
Objectives:
1. Identify the name and location of the 5 major ocean basins.
2. Identify the chemical, physical and biological properties of the 5
ocean basins.
3. Identify the depths of each ocean basin.
4. Create a poster of the ocean basins and their properties.
Procedure:
1. In teams of 4 create an ocean basin poster that includes the
following:
a. A map that identifies the 5 major ocean basins.
b. Clearly label the name of each ocean.
c. Identify the deepest depth of each basin. Identify the
average depth of each basin.
d. Identify at least 5 defining physical, chemical and biological
characteristics of each ocean basin. To include salinity,
temperature, common species, etc.
e. Title Poster: Major Ocean Basins
f. Color code each ocean basin.
g. Write team member names and class period on back of
poster.
