Summit 2015 conference notes:

Richard mentioned that someone is looking for a hotel roommate at Summit. He can provide contact
information.

STC has replaced the traditional honors banquet in favor of a reception format, scheduled to start
after the education sessions end on Tuesday. The Honors Reception will feature hors d’oeuvres and
appetizer stations and will celebrate this year's honorees, including Fellows and Associate Fellows.
Lori M. has been named an STC Fellow this year.

Also new at Summit 2015 is a Speed Networking event, which will take place in the Exposition Hall.
Attendees will be able to visit tables hosted by STC and industry leaders.

If we are named a Community of Excellence again this year, we will receive our certificate at Summit.

Lori submitted a Pacesetter Award application on behalf of the chapter for our new Technology
Insight award program, started in 2014. We will hear the results at Summit.

Membership report (Lori M)


Membership data as of 3/22/2015:

42 members

5 new members since January 1, 2015

1 new member in the last 30 days

7 members who have not renewed their STC membership.
STC has begun a new membership promotion (Recruitment Race) that runs through June 1, 2015.
Communities who recruit new members have an opportunity to win a free membership that they can give
away. How it works:

When recruiting a member, ask them not to sign up or pay for the chapter or SIG, but to include the
name of the chapter or SIG who referred them on the online application. The referral fields can be
found under the Membership tab of the online application. STC will be responsible for signing the
member up for that particular chapter or SIG free of charge. The community must be listed online to
receive credit.

The chapter or SIG with the highest percentage of new or renewing members are entered to win
prizes to be raffled to your members at the end of the campaign.

Scoring:


Classic, New TC Professional, Student, and Gold Value Package members are all worth one
point.

New 2015 Corporate Value Package (CVP) members may be recruited and are worth one point
per individual. For example, if five new members join (as a CVP from one company) your
community will receive five points.
Prizes for the chapter or SIG with the highest percentage of new and/or renewing members include:

Two upgrades to Gold Membership

One $500 registration credit toward Summit 2016


One Community Roundtable with Chris Lyons, STC's Chief Executive Officer
One Society Pages article in Intercom magazine

One community spotlight post on the STC Notebook blog
Website/WordPress brainstorming session (Jane, all)
The group discussed proposed layout and content for the web site.

We discussed broad concepts that drive how to structure our site's new home page, including:
 Audience types: Leadership Team, Members, Non-Members, Job Seekers.

Site goals: Gain new EBSTC members, help job seekers, link to useful TC information.

Jobs mailing list: Richard is testing a better, easier tool to replace the current one. Once it is ready,
we can add a link to subscribe or access it on our new site.

An STC Community of Excellence

Jane provided 3 handouts and went through each one:
 Proposed menus (tabs with drop-downs for sub-menu items) to span top of site pages: Home |
Meetings | About | Awards | History | Education | Administration
 The current site's top 2 menu levels in a list that included whether pages or content are included in
the Proposed Menus list
 Printout of basic WordPress template-formatted home page with sample EBSTC components.
Jane showed us the sample home page on her laptop while explaining how she can structure the
content, menus and quick links in the WordPress template.

We discussed edits to the proposed menus.

Jane talked about site pages and posts and publishing a regular newsletter versus posting and removing
content based on a set schedule. We agreed to defer discussing plans for these until our basic
WordPress components are in place. Meanwhile, we can keep notes about any content we initially create
or migrate to WP that might be better suited later on for these more dynamic areas.

We discussed WordPress plugins to aid in site maintenance, such as auto backup and comments
monitoring.

Jane feels that board members are now better informed about what's ahead. By collaborating as a group,
we relieved her of making "executive decisions" in a vacuum.
CAA Application (Lori M)

Our application was submitted on January 27, 2015. We applied to be a Community of Excellence.

The CAA evaluation committee has submitted its recommendations to the STC board, who needs to vote
on the proposed awards. We should hear the results in 2 to 3 weeks.
