Articles of Agreement 1. Definition: For the purpose of this agreement, articulation describes the process that facilitates the transition of a student from one educational institution to another or from one level of education to the next with minimal duplication of coursework. When referring to articulation from high school (secondary) to college (post secondary), we refer to this as Free College Credit. 2. All articulating students shall meet and maintain entrance requirements of Lansing Community College (LCC) and the intended curriculum or program of study. 3. _____________ Public Schools will provide for each student a Student Articulation Application for each LCC course requested which certifies achievement levels (minimum 80% outcome completion and proficiency). These high school academic records will become part of the student's permanent high school record and will be forwarded to LCC. 4. With enrollment at LCC and approval of the articulation materials listed in item 3 above, the articulated credits will be recorded on the student’s transcript. 5. A student must enroll in courses at LCC and submit all articulation materials within 24 months following high school graduation in order to be eligible for college credit under this agreement. If this time limit has expired, the student may opt to take competency examinations in accordance with regulations stated in the College catalog. 6. Credits articulated will become part of the total number of credits for program completion at LCC and will appear as transfer credit by course code, title, and credit hour(s) on the student's LCC transcript. No grades will be recorded. 7. College credit for articulated courses will be limited to a maximum of 16 semester credits. 8. Tuition will not be charged for articulated credits under this agreement. 9. An annual review and update of articulated courses will be conducted by curricular specialists from the _____________ Public Schools and LCC. If necessary, the occupational tasks and competency-based records used to measure achievement levels will be revised so that high school programs remain aligned with LCC courses for which articulation is sought. 10. Faculty and administrators directly involved in this articulation agreement will receive orientation in the articulation process. 11. LCC will not articulate courses that are “General Education CORE Courses”. The College has established General Education Core requirements at the college level in the areas of communication, global perspectives and diversity, mathematics, science, and writing for students seeking an LCC associate degree.
