Leadership Albuquerque provides its class members with the opportunity to engage in an
exciting year of personal, professional, and community exploration, but it does require a time
commitment. The program begins with a two-day retreat in September. Classes then meet for
all-day “curriculum days” on the fourth Tuesday of each month from September through May,
except for the November program day which are scheduled for the third Tuesday. The
Leadership Development Conference is tentatively scheduled for Friday, March 29, 2016. A
special graduation dinner with keynote speaker concludes the program in June 2016.
The interview process for Leadership Class of 2016 applicants will take place the end of
July/early August.

Program Policies & Participant Responsibilities
Absence Policy
Full participation in the scheduled Program Days is essential to the Leadership Albuquerque
experience. Barring emergencies, attendance at all events is mandatory. Class members are
expected to arrive on time and remain with the class for the entire session. Leaving class early is
considered an absence. There are sign-in sheets for the morning and afternoon sessions. If there are
multiple venues, there will be a sign-in sheet at each venue. Any participant who misses more than
two (2) sessions, unexcused, will be asked to leave the program and will not receive a tuition
refund. Every person selected to be a part of the Leadership Class is required to attend the Retreat.
Community Service Project
Class members will be involved in a “group project” which requires the group to be involved in some
form of Community Service and Learning. This involves meeting with your project group outside of the
regularly scheduled program days. All class projects must be approved by the GACC Staff and
Curriculum Committee, before beginning the project. Community Projects will be discussed at the
retreat. A hard copy of your group’s final project will be due on Projects Day.
Program Tuition
In addition to time and dedication, Leadership Albuquerque requires a financial commitment. The FY
2015/2016 tuition for Leadership Albuquerque is $2,500. Full payment is due prior to the September
retreat. A limited amount of scholarships are available. In order to keep the cost to a minimum for
the participants, the program does get sponsorships from the business community for each of the
program days, retreat, and graduation. The tuition covers all program costs including a two day
mandatory retreat, meals provided at each program day, materials, Leadership shirts, speaker costs,
entrance into the Leadership Conference and bus/coach transportation if necessary. For some of the

sessions, the participants will be required to provide their own transportation to and from site visits (car
pooling is encouraged). On occasion, the participants may also need to pay parking fees at various
locations. The Curriculum Committee attempts to keep these extra costs to a minimum.
Selection Criteria
Each Leadership Albuquerque class is chosen by a Selection Committee comprised of graduates of the
program. Classes are representative of our diverse community and include participants who represent
large and small businesses, the self-employed, nonprofits, and community volunteers. The Selection
Committee strives to achieve balance in the class by ensuring diversity of race, gender, industry, and
professional backgrounds.
Applications will be thoroughly reviewed, and candidates will participate in individual and group
interviews. Please limit all responses to no more than 500 words.
Selection criteria includes:
■ Commitment to personal and professional growth
■ Commitment and motivation to serve the community through assuming leadership roles in the
voluntary and public sectors of our community
■ Support from Employer to take required days off
■ Personal commitment to improving the community environment so as to favorably impact the
economic development and quality of life in our community.
The Leadership Albuquerque program is highly competitive. A limited number of applicants are
selected for each class. Therefore, we encourage you to reapply to subsequent programs if your
application is not accepted this program year.
