Job Description Service The Base – Kirklees Job Title Volunteer & Peer Mentor Coordinator Base 2 Spring Bank, New North Road, Huddersfield. HD1 5NB Hours 37.5 hours per week Salary Range Point 26-28 (£23,488.56 - £25,068.68) Reports to Senior Practitioner Purpose of Job Under the direction of the Service Management team, the post holder will take a lead on the co-ordination of Volunteering placements as well as the services Peer Mentoring Scheme. NM448 The post holder will take a lead on the recruitment, training, supervision and coordination of volunteers within the CRI framework to ensure the effective, quality delivery of targeted provision to young people. The post holder will work with existing staff and recruited volunteers, to promote and support meaningful service user and peer involvement in appropriate areas of service delivery. The post holder will take responsibility for coordinating a Peer Mentoring Scheme. This will include, promotion, planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation. This post will require comprehensive reporting to service management on Volunteering, Peer Mentoring and Service User Involvement. The post holder will work with partner agencies across Kirklees in developing a broad provision of developmental pathways for young people to benefit from (via targeted interventions) The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within an agreed number of hours and across sites as required, and will be expected to take responsibility for their own learning and development and fully engage with learning and development, supervision and appraisal requirements as per CRI policies. Key Activities: To develop and maintain the co-ordination of an effective Service User involvement and Volunteer training and placement scheme across The Base. To identify, recruit, train, supervise & co-ordinate Volunteers, Students and Peer Mentors across Kirklees in accordance with CRI policies, frameworks and procedures To ensure the promotion of meaningful Service User involvement within The Base. To review, develop and co-ordinate CRI’s Peer Mentoring programme for young people in Kirklees, alongside targeted partner agencies. To coordinate service requests for targeted activity by ensuring timely and adequate cover by staff and volunteers To take a lead on the facilitation of the Peer Mentoring programme as well as support the delivery of group work and professionals training as required. To support the coordination and development of the services Social Media Activity. To work with the Regional Peer Mentor and Volunteer Co-ordinator to ensure the effective development and improvement of Volunteering and Peer Mentoring programmes. To be responsible for the risk management and Health & Safety requirements of the Peer mentoring and Volunteering service To establish, maintain and develop links with partner agencies and local support services To ensure that Peer Mentor and Volunteer records are maintained effectively and stored in accordance with Data Protection requirements To work towards the achievement of outcomes/targets as per the Service Level Agreement to ensure consistently high standards of service delivery. To produce service activity reports (qualitative and quantitative) on key workstreams, including Volunteering, Peer Mentoring, Targeted Activity and Service User Involvement To ensure all record keeping, outcome monitoring and data collection is maintained and delivered to management in a timely fashion as and when required To work with Service Users to co-ordinate the regular publication of The Base newsletter. To ensure regular Service User involvement activity is carried out within the Service To utilise Volunteers, Service Users and Peer mentors to introduce creative methods of service promotion via social networking sites whilst ensuring internet dangers and risks are identified and relevant support provided for young people in Kirklees. A knowledge of issues facing young people today Experience of contributing to project development Experience of Service User Involvement Strategies Experience of liaising and working with professionals from a variety of services Commitment to involving service users in service development, strategy development and initiating change Knowledge of social networking and an understanding of the benefits of e-safety.
