Luella High School Home of the Lions CLASS OF 2014 INFORMATION (Please refer to Senior Working calendar at the end of this information.) Graduation Services: Friday, May 23, 2014 – 8:30 PM – Luella High School Stadium Baccalaureate Services: Tuesday, May 20, 2014 – 7:00 PM – McDonough Christian Church – 2000 Jonesboro Rd - McDonough, GA 30253 (770) 954-9332 Please be aware that both services are optional. These services and the activities associated with them provide all of us a special time to celebrate the accomplishments of 13 years. All are designed to make these days a great time for final goodbyes, celebrating success and sharing with peers, family and friends. In order to participate in each ceremony, a student must have completed all academic requirements for graduation and must have settled any and all outstanding financial or uniform obligations to Luella High School. Seniors will be notified at the beginning of school(printed on the back of their 1st day class schedule of any outstanding obligations) and will be notified at the beginning of the 2nd semester) ALL obligations must be satisfied by Friday, May 16 by 4:00 PM. o Any fines must be paid in cash. o If fines, fees, obligations are satisfied by May 16, senior will qualify for 1 EXTRA graduation ticket. Seniors are expected to abide by all school rules and policies. Even as a graduating senior, the student is still enrolled at Luella High School and must make appropriate choices and act appropriately. Violations of the HCS Disciplinary rules could result in the student not being allowed to participate in baccalaureate and/or graduation services. 1 Class of 2014 Graduation Information, as of July 2, 2013 – subject to change. Appropriate wardrobe for EACH service: In order to participate in each service, a graduate candidate must wear a Jostens’ cap and gown ensemble. A schedule for when Jostens will be at Luella to take orders is printed here. Graduation Fees: All graduates who plan to participate in the graduation ceremonies must pay the Senior fee of: $75 - August 5, 2013 – December 20, 2013 $90 – January 1, 2014 – April 4, 2014 $110 – After April 4, 2013 Fees will need to be paid in cash or money order – no checks. Fees can be paid in the front office; a receipt will be issued. The Senior Fees will be used to pay the following expenses toward the Class of 2013’s graduation celebration: Chair rental, sound system rental, breakfast and lunch for graduates periodically during graduation practice, flowers, baccalaureate and graduation programs, baccalaureate and graduation tickets, diplomas, and security expenses. All seniors participating in the graduation ceremony must pay the senior fee. o Please contact Ms. Glover if you decide not to participate in graduation ceremonies for the diploma fee only. Admission to Graduation: While the Luella High School stadium is a large facility, it will not accommodate unlimited attendance. Full participation in the senior events of May 19 - 23 will earn a graduate 10 tickets to graduation for family and friends. o Each graduate will begin with 2 graduation tickets. By attending the Required Graduation activities May 19 -23 graduates will earn additional tickets. On each of these remaining days, seniors will report to their assigned assistant principal to verify attendance/participation for the purpose of earning graduation tickets. TU, 5/20 – attend Senior breakfast and Senior assembly: earn 2 tickets W, 5/21 - participate in Give Back to Community day: earns 2 tickets o Community service hours will be discussed through senior English classes at the beginning of 2nd semester. TH, 5/22 – attend the full graduation rehearsal: earns 2 tickets. F, 5/23 – attend the full graduation rehearsal: earns 2 tickets. 2 Class of 2014 Graduation Information, as of July 2, 2013 – subject to change. A graduation ticket is required for admission to the stadium. Children under the age of 5 may be admitted without a ticket as long as the child sits in an adult’s lap. All graduation guests must be seated, either in the normal seating stands or on the temporary bleachers that will be set up exclusively for graduation. A handicapped seating area will be provided and one other guest may sit with the handicapped guest. o A graduation ticket is required, but no special ticket is required. ALL Graduation tickets will be given to seniors at the end of the last graduation practice on Friday, May 23. There will be a bonus 1 graduation ticket given if the graduate satisfies all fees obligations by Friday, May 16. By earning this ticket, the graduate would have 11 TOTAL tickets. The week of graduation practice is for GRADUATES who are participating in graduation exercises only. Members of the Class of 2014 who are NOT graduating or participating in the graduation exercises are NOT allowed on campus. Jostens’ Senior Schedule Class presentations: Tuesday, October 15 Class presentation about caps and gowns and all other senior items that can be ordered. Information will be sent home that day. Senior Order Day: Thursday, October 23 during all lunches and after school until 4:15 Seniors turn in order information for caps and gowns and other senior items like graduation announcements, etc… o Deposit will be required…usually a deposit of $75 Senior Delivery Day: Tuesday, April 16 Orders that are paid in full will be delivered during all lunches and after school until 4:15. Payment for orders can be made beginning with Order Day until Delivery Day. All payments go to Jostens; they accept checks and credit cards. More detailed information will be distributed after 2014 Spring Break.
