Rocky Mountain Soap Company Opens Toxin-Free Store in Market Mall, Calgary
Canmore, Alberta. June 26, 2015: The Rocky Mountain Soap Company is pleased to announce the opening of their
fourth location in Calgary and eleventh retail store overall. Conceptualized with a sustainable and healthy
philosophy, the approach is one they are hoping will be adopted by other retailers in the future.
The vision for the store is that it is a completely toxin-free and earth-friendly environment. A resolution was made
to avoid a ‘red-list’ of the toxins typically found in the construction of a store including asbestos, lead, CFC’s and
PVC. Further to this is the tenet that no parts of the store will ever end up in a landfill. Materials and furniture for
the store have been sourced with sustainability and health in mind; from the American Clay walls surfaces that
help to clean the air to the signature white wood, which is reclaimed and locally sourced.
The backlit bottle wall serves as a visual reminder of Rocky Mountain Soap Company’s roots; nature.
Body care was originally made from the plants, flowers and trees that grew in our own back yards. In the chemical
boom of the 60’s we were seduced by the effects that synthetic products could have on our skin, hair, teeth and
nails. Long-term studies of these synthetics on human health and the impact on our planet were side-stepped then,
and are still being side-stepped today. Decades later we are finally waking up to the fact that our greatgrandparents had it right all along; everything we need to keep us clean, healthy and beautiful is provided by the
earth. Our store serves not only as a safe place that visitors can shop and enjoy, but also a reminder that caring for
ourselves and our families doesn’t need to be complicated.
