Prepare plans programs and budgets for expansion and implementation of the road net work
in the Republic .
Prepare detailed studies and applicable engineering designs for all road projects through
qualified, arab and foreign engineering consultant offices or competent local consultant
offices.
Supervise and follow up the implementation stage procedures of all road projects in Yemen.
Look after an effective and realistic maintenance of the road net work through out the
Republic and for this purpose the road maintenance fund has been established.
Coordinate with all competent authorities with regard to road projects.

Bridges
There are few bridges in Yemen, most are small to support mountain crossings, transporters report
very few problems occur due to bridge failure etc.

This are the road links connecting the secretariat of the capital to the provincial capital or
roads connecting capitals of the governorates to each other .Total existing lengths 5152 km .
This are the road linking the provincial capital to the district centers connecting the centers of
the districts linking with each other or road connection links between the major / main roads .
Total existing lengths of secondary roads are 3512 km.
This are the road links connecting suburb centers and the surrounding villages or road links
connecting villages among each other.
Total executed lengths for tertiary roads are 2971 km.
Total asphalted urban road links comprise of approximately about 46,419,674 sq.m in all
governorates (provinces ) of the Republic.
The asphalted road network is divided in to four categories according to the study plan under
preparation in the Ministry, medicating lengths of each projects, already executed or project
under construction :
