AGENDA
Building Bridges for Inclusion
Room XI 11am to 1pm – Wednesday 28 October
The new Sustainable Development Global Goals are a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a difference to the lives
of all children and young people. We all need health care, education, family support and protection from violence,
exploitation, and abuse. “All”must mean “all”. For too long young people with disabilities and those growing up in
orphanages or institutions have been marginalised, their opinions and rights ignored. In this interactive session, young
people with and without disabilities from 3 countries will show how to build bridges between all young people and
leave no one behind. Will you join us?
The session will be co-hosted by Lumos, the children’s NGO founded by author J.K Rowling. It will be opened by
Professor Pat Dolan, UNESCO Chair in Children, Youth and Civic Engagement and Pofessor Mark Brennan, UNESCO
Chair in Rural Community, Leadership, and Youth Development. The session will demonstrate the importance of selfadvocacy and the new styles of participation which will help bring about real inclusion.
