Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) and Stellenbosch University Science, Technology and Sport Conference Translation to Coaching Practices for High Performance Sport and Sport Talent Identification @Sportdev2 March 12, 13 and 14, 2014 The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) will be holding its 2014 annual conference in partnership with Stellenbosch University. The conference is presented specifically for coaches and administrators who work in high performance sport and/or talent identification programmes. The purpose of the conference is to provide an overview of various ways in which science and technology can be applied to help them meet the challenges of developing the sporting abilities of the athletes in the Western Cape. The Conference is presented in four sessions. The first session is a practical workshop (Wednesday afternoon) in which the uses of sport technology to support on-field training will be demonstrated. Sessions 2 (Thursday) and 3 (Friday) provide each of the four universities in the Province with the opportunity to share their views about current applications of science and sport technology for high performance and talent development programmes. Location: The practical workshop will be held at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport, and the formal presentations (Sessions 2, 3 and 4) will be held at STIAS (The Wallenberg Conference Centre on the Stellenbosch University campus).
