@Sportdev2
March 12, 13 and 14, 2014
The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) will be holding its 2014 annual conference
in partnership with Stellenbosch University. The conference is presented specifically for coaches and
administrators who work in high performance sport and/or talent identification programmes. The purpose of the
conference is to provide an overview of various ways in which science and technology can be applied to help
them meet the challenges of developing the sporting abilities of the athletes in the Western Cape.
The Conference is presented in four sessions. The first session is a practical workshop (Wednesday afternoon)
in which the uses of sport technology to support on-field training will be demonstrated. Sessions 2 (Thursday)
and 3 (Friday) provide each of the four universities in the Province with the opportunity to share their views
about current applications of science and sport technology for high performance and talent development
programmes.
Location: The practical workshop will be held at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport, and the formal
presentations (Sessions 2, 3 and 4) will be held at STIAS (The Wallenberg Conference Centre on the
Stellenbosch University campus). Maps available on request from sportdev@sun.ac.za
