This Job Description should be read alongside the range of professional duties of
Teachers as set out in Part 10 of the Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
The Leadership Coach will be accountable for maximising student attainment
through developing leadership attributes, skills and processes of postholders within
faculties, particularly Mathematics.
There is scope within this post for wider leadership working in the future.
STRATEGIC AIMS – SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN STRANDS
STRAND 1
VALUES & ETHOS







Embed ambition and drive rapid and sustained improvement to secure high
levels of achievement and student success beyond national expectations,
particularly in Maths.
Support and model leadership by demonstrating cutting edge practice in
improving students’ Maths skills and effectively supporting colleagues in
leading and managing students and staff to deliver impact and success.
Support and model best practice in quality assuring, monitoring and
evaluating success of strategies, reshaping and reframing to maximise
impact.
Lead, support and challenge staff to achieve the school’s strategic priorities
and rigorously monitor the progress of assessing learning and progress;
intervening to improve where necessary.
Support the school self-evaluation process and identify priorities for
improvement.
Ensure rigour, impact from actions taken and address and eliminate
underperformance.
Identify key professional development needs in relation to ensuring all
students reach or exceed age expected standards for Mathematics and
ensure that these are addressed, delivered and have impact.

STRAND 2
ACHIEVEMENT & STANDARDS






Eliminate barriers to learning and ensure that currently low performing groups
including all Pupil Premium, FSM students, SEN and Boys rapidly secure
significantly high achievement in Mathematics compared to national figures.
Ensure through systematic QA that high quality schemes of learning for all
year groups are planned in line with new National Curriculum requirements
and have a range of clearly planned assessment opportunities focused on
creating rapid progress.
Drive standards and expectations across faculties, particularly mathematics,
to maximise student attainment by ensuring all teachers are planning to
secure accelerated learning at 4LP and beyond, holding colleagues to
account for students’ performance and outcomes.
Support faculty Leadership teams and model best practice in leading the
forensic analysis of progress data at individual student level at each
collection point and after each examination result set is received. Address
outcomes with relevant deliverers at individual student level using the results
to make teaching more effective and to implement appropriate interventions
and programmes to target areas of concern.
Support faculty Leadership teams and model best practice in providing and
presenting robust and up-to-date student data to Accountability Meetings.
Produce/contribute to oral and written assessments, reports and evaluations
relating to individual and groups of students to be delivered to SLT and GB.
TEACHING & LEARNING



Growing the leadership capacity of identified staff to improve faulty provision
and student outcomes
Embed a clear vision for assessing learning and progress, particularly in
mathematics, which embodies high expectations of staff and learners,
ensuring that all groups of learners meet at least national expectations and
that many exceed these.
Support the faulty Leadership Team in devising programmes to promote a
consistent approach to accelerating the teaching and assessment of
mathematics including:
o working closely with Heads of Faculty to ensure Maths skills are
effectively taught, assessed and swiftly improved
o creating high quality and engaging resources that allow staff to
develop a repertoire of teaching strategies
o coaching and supporting all teachers to broaden their understanding
around the mathematics curriculum to improve subject attainment
and progress
o conducting regular data analysis to identify where there are
discrepancies between student performance in mathematics and
other curriculum areas.


Consistently model the teaching of engaging and effective lessons that
motivate, inspire and improve student attainment and embed an Open Door
ethos across the school.
Participate in related recruitment and selection activities.
STRAND 3
WIDENING OPPORTUNITIES



Deliver training sessions to improve both the quality of teaching and the
quality of leadership, including the delivery of seminars as part of the school’s
whole-school CPD programme.
Contribute where appropriate to the induction programme for new teachers
and those who are new to the school
Actively coach and mentor colleagues to drive standards of teaching and
learning, particularly the innovative use of modern technologies to enhance
learning and progress.
LEADERSHIP


Model best practice in how to lead staff to deliver rapidly improved
outcomes for students.
Actively develop leadership skills in others, particularly in mathematics but
also with identified colleagues
GENERAL






Take on specific leadership and management tasks related to the day to day
running of the school.
Administration and organisation of the school as requested by the Principal.
Contribute to Governing Body and other meetings when appropriate
Create and maintain positive and supportive relationships with parents,
governors and the wider community.
Engage with appropriate training opportunities to promote professional
effectiveness in your role.
Any additional tasks by agreement with the line manager which are
commensurate with the responsibilities and remuneration for this post.
