ROCKWALL INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Employee Job Description JOB TITLE: Bilingual/ESL/Title III/ Early Childhood Coordinator WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction PAY GRADE: AP 4 DEPARTMENT: Curriculum & Instruction DATE REVISED: 3/20/12 PRIMARY PURPOSE: Coordinate the district programs for bilingual/ESL/early childhood students. Collaborate with district staff and outside personnel to provide educational opportunities for bilingual/ESL/early childhood students. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Master’s degree from accredited university with a major in assigned area Valid Texas teaching certificate Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners Ability to interpret data Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: Three years’ experience as a bilingual or ESL teacher Administrative experience preferred MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES: Instructional Program Management 1. Implement procedures and coordinate the process to identify bilingual/ESL students at all grade levels district wide including review of student data and testing of students. 2. Coordinate the review, development, and revision of all bilingual/ESL/early childhood programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, district assessments, and teaching plans. 3. Assist teachers to develop and provide bilingual/ESL students with appropriate course work through curriculum modification, acceleration, etc. 4. Plan and oversee assessments for bilingual/ESL/early childhood students. 5. Develop and conduct or arrange for staff development sessions, including sessions on various instruction methods, enriched learning in classroom settings, and methods for identifying bilingual students. 6. Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness in the areas of bilingual/ESL/early childhood. Budget 7. Monitor grant-funded programs and their expenditures to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines. 8. Compile budget and cost estimates based on documented program needs. 9. Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents required, including required financial reports to TEA. Staff Development 10. Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in the areas of bilingual/ESL/early childhood. 11. Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in bilingual/ESL/early childhood. 12. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. 13. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom. Other 14. Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about school programs. 15. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. 16. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies. 17. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
