Legalization and authentication of documents All documents issued in Sweden ( Latvia ) must be legalized or authenticated by the consular sector of the Embassy of Brazil in Stockholm in order to be considered valid in Brazil . The legalization or authentication of documents does not imply the acceptance or approval of their contents by the Brazilian Consular Authority. As a rule, documents issued in a foreign language must be translated into Portuguese by an official (sworn) translator in Brazil in order to be accepted by the Brazilian authorities. There may be exceptions to this rule, but not regarding documents to be presented before Brazilian Courts of Justice. The consular sector of the Embassy does not provide for translations. Legalization Documents issued in Sweden that require legalization must first be notarized by a Notary Public registered with the consular sector of the Embassy. The exceptions are: -Certificate of criminal records issued by the Swedish Police -Documents stamped and signed by the local Chamber of Commerce Documents issued in Latvia must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia before being submitted to the Consular Section of the Brazilian Embassy. It is possible to process the legalization or authentication of documents by post. Click Documents by post The consular fee is SEK 200 per signature to be legalized. When there are more than three (3) documents bundled together by the Notary Public and relating to the same physical or juridical person the consular fee is SEK 600 per bundled document. Click Payment of consular fees Authentication Documents issued in Sweden to be authenticated by the consular sector of the Embassy, including school documents, must first be notarized by a Notary Public. As stated above, documents issued in Latvia must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. The consular fee for legalization is SEK 200 per document. When there are more than three (3) documents bundled together by the Notary Public and relating to the same physical or juridical person the consular fee is SEK 600 per bundled document. The consular fee for authentication of school documents is SEK 50 per document , up to three (3) documents relating to the same person. When there are more than three (3) documents bundled together by the Notary Public and relating to the same person, the legalization fee is SEK 150. Click Payment of consular fees Authentication of signature The consular sector of the Embassy can authenticate the signature of Brazilian citizens or foreigners holding a valid Brazilian Identity Card for Foreigners (Carteira RNE) who have deposited their signature atthe Embassy. In order to deposit the signature it is necessary to sign the appropriate Book (Livro de Registro de Firmas) in the presence of the Consular Authority or of his/her representative and to present a Brazilian identity document (passport, identity card, carteira RNE, or driver's license). There is no cost for depositing a signature. The authentication of signatures in documents costs SEK 200 per signature. Persons who do not hold a Brazilian passport or a valid Brazilian Identity Card for Foreigners (Carteira RNE) must have their signatures previously authenticated by a Notary Public who is registered with the Embassy. The consular fee for the legalization is SEK 200 (see above Legalization). There is no consular fee when the document is destined for the collection of public pension or salary paid by the public sector. Authentication of copies There are two alternatives: a) The photocopy of the original document is made by the consular sector of the Embassy. In this case the consular fee is SEK 100 per page (documents in Portuguese), or SEK 150 per page (documents in other languages); or b) The photocopy is made by the interested party and presented to the consular sector together with the original document. In this case the consular fee is SEK 50 per page if the document is written in Portuguese or SEK 100 per page if the document is written in a foreign language. Certificates of Origin and Invoices Certificates of Origin and Invoices do not require notarization by a Notary Public. These documents must bear the stamp and signature of the official of the local Chamber of Commerce, before being authenticated by the consular sector of the Embassy. The consular fee for authenticating Certificates of Origin and Pro-Forma invoices is SEK 200 per document. When there are more than three (3) documents bundled together and relating to the same juridical person the consular fee is SEK 600. Invoices (services rendered) Invoices for professional services rendered must include the following data in order to be authenticated by the consular sector: Signature of the representative of the enterprise, authenticated by the local Chamber of Commerce; Full name and address of the person who rendered the service; Full name and address of the beneficiary of the service; Description of the service; Cost of the service, Currency and modalities of the payment; Proof that the person who rendered the service held the appropriate visa (Vitem V) (photocopy of the page of the passport bearing the visa).
