DIVISIONS:
HUNTERS
Ground Rails: open to beginning riders who are in their beginning stages of riding
and are not showing over fences other than Ground Rail Division. Rider may cross
enter any flat class that does not canter and the Beginner Cross Rail Division.
Beginner Cross Rail: open to Ground Rail and those who are not ready for ETHJA
Beginner Rider Divisions
Beginner Rider Hunter: open to amateur or junior riders of any age on horses or
ponies who have not shown over fences above 18”. Riders may enter other classes
with fences not to exceed 18” and any flat classes they are otherwise qualified for.
Courses may be trotted or cantered. Flat classes walk/trot/canter. Fences 18”.
Beginner Rider Equitation: open to beginner, amateur or junior riders of any age on
horses or ponies who have not shown over fences above 18”.Riders may enter
other classes with fences not to exceed 18” and any other flat classes they are
otherwise qualified for. Courses may be trotted or cantered. Flat classes walk/trot
canter. Fences 18”.
Mini Hunter: open to beginner, Short/Long Stirrup riders and green horses or
ponies. (To retain eligibility in Beginner Rider and Beginner Rider Equation these
riders must jump 18”). Courses may be trotted or cantered. Under saddle walk/trot
only. Fences 18’ or 2’.
Short Stirrup Hunter: open to riders 12 and under on ponies in their first or second
year of showing over fences 2’ or higher. Pony/rider combination may not enter
the Pony Division at the same show. Fences 2’.
Long Stirrup: open to amateur or junior riders of any age on horses or riders 13
years or older on ponies in their first or second year showing over fences 2’ or
higher. Pony/rider combination may not enter the Pony Hunter Division at the
same show. Fences 2’.
2’ Equitation: open to Short/ Long Stirrup riders. May cross enter any other
equitation division otherwise qualified for. Fences 2’.
Pony Hunter: open to junior riders on ponies. USEF rules apply with the exception
of fence height. Small ponies to be shown by juniors 12 years of age or younger.
Medium ponies to be shown by juniors 14 years of age or younger. Fences small
2’/medium 2’ or 2’6”, large 2’6”.
ETHJA Pony Medal: open to junior members on ponies, Courses must have at least
two changes of direction. The top ten riders at the end of the season qualify for the
finals to be held at an announced site. Testing on the flat is encouraged. USEF tests
1-8. Fences small/medium 2’, large 2’6”.
Equitation 14 and Under: open to riders 14 years old and under. Fences 2’ or 2’6”.
Schooling Hunter: open to all horses or ponies. Adults may ride ponies. Fences 2’
or 2’6”.
Special Hunter: open to amateur, junior riders on horses or ponies. Amateurs may
ride ponies. Fences 2’, 2’6” and 2’9”.
Equitation 15-17: open to riders 15-17 years old. Fences 2’6” or 3’.
Adult Equitation: open to adult amateur riders. Fences 2’6” or 3’.
Children’s Hunter: open to junior riders on horses. Fences 3’.
ETHJA 2’6” Medal: open to any members on horses. Courses must have at least two
changes of direction. The top ten riders at the end of the season to qualify for the

Open Jumper: 3’6”
Low Jumpers: Fences 2’6” or under. Open to any horse/pony rider combination
which has never shown in any ETHJA or USEF jumper competition over fences
exceeding 2’6”.
High jumpers: Fences over 2’6”. Open to any horse/pony rider combination..
