8:05-9:45 Daniel Smith, M.D.: Transfusion-related Acute Lung Injury

The audience will learn about the transfusion related acute lung injury and will be able to diagnose and treat the
disease.

The participant will understand the pathophysiology of TRALI as well as mitigation strategies to prevent this
transfusion-related complication.

The audience will learn of recent advances in red blood cell utilization with emphasis on the evidence-based literature.

The participant will learn how to structure and establish a hospital-based blood utilization program.

The participant will understand nuances and pitfalls of the fatty liver grading system..

The learner will be able to distinguish the pediatric pattern of steatohepatitis from the adult pattern.

The audience will be able to differentiate factors complicating the interpretation of fatty liver disease

The learner will identify features that would suggest fatty liver disease as the origin of otherwise cryptogenic cirrhosis.
