Job Description
SOAR Schools is a new network of public charter elementary schools serving the Denver Metro area. We are committed to providing

responsible for an Autism Center Program. This pioneering partnership between Denver Public Schools and SOAR will create a
unique and innovative program within a public school.

The Speech-Language Pathologist, Autism Program, at SOAR
Supervises and cares for students addressing their physical, emotional health and safety, recognizing their worth, affirming their
Assess abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships.
Speech/language/social cognition/assistive technology needs related to autism, high functioning autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and
similar developmental disabilities.
Attends weekly Clinical meetings
Attends and participate in in-services as appropriate.
Participates in Individualized Education Plan development and implementation.
Documents progress through daily data collection.
Provides consultation to staff and parents regarding services required.
Is a positive role model for students, families, and co-workers.
Collaborates with other SLP’s in regards to in-service training related to speech/language/social cognition needs of students.
Completes and update personnel file.
Other duties as assigned by Directors (Head of School and Director of Support Services).
Qualifications








A commitment to working with children from 6 years-21 years of age with developmental disabilities.
Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Clinical Certification of Competence, and License to practice.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience with children with autism and/or developmental disabilities.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience with high functioning autism, Asperger’s Syndrome and assistive technology intervention.
Experience with disabilities relating to traumatic brain injury, social-emotional disabilities, anxiety disorder, sensory
processing disorder, auditory processing disorder, Fragile X Syndrome, depression, selective mutism, etc.
Minimum age of 23.
Mature and reliable.
Good driving record and valid Colorado driver’s license.

competitive; the SOAR Administrative Assistant is eligible to participate in the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association
