GREYHOUND PETS OF AMERICA Louisville, KY Chapter www.GPALouisville.org Dear Sir or Madam: The Louisville chapter of Greyhound Pets of America will hold its 2015 Annual Reunion on Saturday, October 31st. Approximately 100 dogs and a comparable number of humans from throughout Kentuckiana are expected to attend this event, which is a primary fundraiser for us. Will you consider donating something from your product line for us to include on our raffle table? Anything suitable for 50- to 100-pound adult sight hounds would be deeply appreciated. Maybe you have a discontinued or returned item which we could raffle or auction off. Or perhaps you'd consider donating a gift certificate in any denomination. And we'd be happy to include any promotional materials you'd like to share in our attendees' goody bags. As a chapter of the nation’s largest adoption placement organization for retired racing Greyhounds, our all-volunteer, non-profit organization is always looking for ways to raise much needed funds to support our adoption efforts. We provide a lifelong safety net for retired racers whether placed through our organization or acquired elsewhere. Our group is in its seventh year of a unique program at Morehead Youth Development Center in Eastern Kentucky where teenage girls at the juvenile correctional facility there help transition newly retired racers from track to home. Transporting, spaying, neutering, vetting and promoting these wonderful dogs as excellent family pets can be expensive, especially with the cost of gasoline, escalating veterinary bills, etc. The adoption donation we request for each dog is only a break-even amount for our average actual veterinary expenses. Those costs are frequently higher than the donations we receive for placements, particularly if an animal enters our program with unexpected medical issues or suffers complications during surgery. Through fundraising such as this event, we can keep our adoption fees affordable for average families and thus place more dogs in loving Forever Homes. Greyhound Pets of America is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization and all donations to the Louisville chapter are tax deductible. Our tax ID number is 61-1154609 and documentation of our non-profit status is available upon request. Thank you for your time and attention in considering this request. Feel free to call me if you have any questions.
