Media Release Monday 16 November, 2015 Bryan Lancaster formally takes up CEO role Moonee Valley Mayor Andrea Surace today officially welcomed Bryan Lancaster to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Mr Lancaster has been acting in the position since late August. Mr Lancaster has more than 38 years’ experience in local government across a range of senior executive areas and was previously Moonee Valley Council’s Director of City Works and Development. “I’m delighted to welcome Mr Lancaster to his new position and look forward to working closely with him as we build on the already extensive strengths of our organisation and continue to deliver outstanding services to our community,” Cr Surace said. Mr Lancaster has wasted no time in getting on with his new role – already announcing a number of structural changes to the organisation designed to enhance performance and service delivery and improve customer experiences. “I’m very proud to take on the role of CEO at Moonee Valley Council,” Mr Lancaster said. “We have a dynamic team of professional and dedicated staff and I am looking forward to working with them to better align the organisation to maximise our ability to deliver high-quality and cost-effective services, programs and projects on behalf of the community.” Mr Lancaster has sought staff feedback on his proposed restructure of the organisation and is expected to finalise the process before mid-December. Mr Lancaster also praised the work of outgoing Chief Executive Neville Smith, whose contract expired on November 14. “Neville Smith made an exceptional contribution to Moonee Valley Council and the community during his five years as Chief Executive and I’m very proud to be able to pick up from where he left off and continue the process of ongoing improvement,” Mr Lancaster said. Mr Lancaster has extensive senior local government experience having worked for metropolitan, regional and rural councils throughout Victoria and in the private sector. During his time in local government Mr Lancaster has been the Director of Asset Management at Yarra City Council; Director Physical and Community Services at Macedon Ranges Shire Council and has also overseen the delivery of a range of community services. He is a qualified civil engineer and has post graduate qualifications in municipal engineering.
