Just try to get an accurate shape and show the locations of all the architectural features, such as doors, windows, closets, and built-ins. Step 2 Measure the length of each wall and note it on your drawing. 13 Step 3 Break the wall measurement down into individual measurements. For example, measure from the wall to the door, then measure the width of the door, next measure from the door to the next opening (i.e., window, built-in) or end point (i.e., wall). Note each measurement on your drawing. Step 4 Add up all the individual measurements. This number should match the overall length you measured in Step 1. If the measurement doesn’t match, double check your measurements. Step 5 Repeat the same process for every wall in your room. Other measurements needed: Ceiling heights Window heights and the height of any clearance space below Door heights Built-in heights Location of light fixture and height from bottom of fixture to floor Location of light switches (indicate with an “X”) and electrical outlets (indicate with an “O”) 14 Pictures Pictures may be sent digitally by e-mail or in print format by mail. Take pictures of the entire room from as many angles as possible. Pictures of all light fixtures and architectural features, such as doors, windows and built-ins, should be included. Take pictures of any existing furniture or accessories you would like us to incorporate into the design. Take pictures of any furniture or accessories that have caught your eye at a local retailer. Also include any magazine images of home décor that you like. This will help us determine your style and preferences. 15
