Trinity College exams
Saturday 21st March
Southover Church Hall
This pack contains all the information you and your child needs for the drama & speech exams.
What happens on Sat 21st March?
Theatre Centre classes run as usual and it is important your child attends this class and the class on the 14th March
too. I will make my way to Southover Church Hall at approx. 1.30pm and Rory will complete the last part of YPT.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the allocated time, so that I can prepare your child before they go into the exam.
Your child’s exam time is given below. If your child is ill on the day, please text me on 07840 166 947
Where is the venue?
Southover Church Hall is at the bottom of St James St on the left. It is a pebble dashed building. The entrance is at
the front of the building. Please do not try and access through the gate (school side near car park) or the red side
door) as these will be locked.
From the train station, turn left towards mini roundabout, then turn right down Priory St. After the mini roundabout
next to Kings Head PH, St James St is the first road on the right.
If you are unsure of the location please call me or email ahead of the date.
What your child needs to bring with them and wear?

It’s important your child has a good night’s sleep before the exam, they eat well and they are hydrated. It
really does help with their ability to feel relaxed and focused.
Intrepid T Shirt.
Comfortable joggers or leggings and sensible shoes.
Please ensure long hair is tied back off the face.
Copies of their poems and prose plus book for sight reading (if applicable).
I will have a back-up copy, just in case, but it is important your child takes responsibility for their own pieces.
All children need to know the title of their pieces, the author and say their name clearly
Example: My poem is called The Crocodile by Roald Dahl performed by Richard.

Voice projection is really important – speaking clearly in a confident voice – encourage your child to say their
poem and prose aloud (the bathroom is a good place).
Stand in a neutral positon (arms by the sides, feet slightly apart, upright, eye contact) no fidgeting.
All movement during the prepared pieces are deliberate, rehearsed and meaningful.
Facial expression should match the words, likewise voice changes with the mood.
Be proud (feel good about the hard work you have put in).
