The Grand Opening Community Festival at the new Billabong Community Centre,
corner Liffey Street and Campbell Road, will be held this Saturday 10 October, 10.00am–
3.00pm. Free activities and entertainment for the whole family, as well as food and a ribbon

Margaret River Uniting Church is hosting Hall on the Road's one day seminar on
'Creation' on Saturday 10 October, 9.30am–4.00pm. The presentations are: Dr Sue Boorer,
‘Taming the chaos dragon: the Creation of the world in the Old Testament;’ Rev Dr Alex
Jensen, ‘Out of nothing: creation and science;’ and Dr Nancy Ault, ‘Creation Spirituality.’
There will be opportunity for discussion. Cost of $20 includes morning tea. Register on the

The Titanic presentation with Fran Taylor will be held on Thursday 15 October at
7.30pm at St Aidan’s Uniting Church Claremont, corner Princess and Chester Roads. Fran
was a guest on a ship which, from above the wreck site, commemorated the centenary of
the sinking of The Titanic. During the voyage, authors delivered interesting and informative
lecturers. Fran’s talk will be based on that information, as well as her own research. A light

South Metro Regional Gathering will be held on Saturday 17 October from 9.30am–
12.30pm at Applecross St Stephens Uniting Church, 2 Mackenzie Road. Please note the
change of venue. Rev Ruth Vertigan will introduce the idea of the Labyrinth and then you
can experience the publicly available one at the church. There will also be a time of sharing
some of the events happening in the wider church. All welcome. For further info email

Trinity North Uniting Church Spring Fashion Parade will be held on Saturday 17
October from 2.00pm–4.30pm at Cousin’s Hall, St Stephen’s School, Doveridge Drive,
Duncraig. An afternoon of fun with a Postie Fashion Parade, then try on the outfits yourself

Capel Uniting Church 50th Anniversary of the church buildings worship service will be
held on Sunday 25 October at 3.00pm at Capel Uniting Church, 5 Scott Road. The

St Andrew’s Uniting Church, the founding Presbyterian church in Perth, together with
adjoining buildings has been sold and will close on Friday 30 October. Any congregation in
need of church furniture or paraphernalia, please contact 9385 9650 for negotiation.
Trinity North Uniting Church Twilight Fair will be held on Friday 27 November from
4.00pm–8.00pm at the Greenwood Worship Centre, Marlock Drive,
Greenwood. Something for all ages with a variety of stalls, food and entertainment. For

The Moderator and Synod of Western Australia express sadness at the passing of
Rev Olive Stafford last Wednesday 30 September at Wearne House in Mandurah. Olive was
a nurse who served in hospitals in Fremantle, Osborne Park, Wooroloo, Perth Dental
Hospital and Papua New Guinea prior to training as a deaconess in the Methodist
Church. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this sad time. Her
funeral will be held this Friday 9 October at 2.00pm at Mandurah Uniting Church, 156
Pinjarra Road.
A Commissioning Service for Kristin Grainger to Ministry of Pastor will be held at
Manjimup Uniting Church, Bath Street on Sunday 11 October, 10.30am. All are welcome to
attend.
The Uniting Church Centre will begin the process of pulling together the 2016 Planner
for the Uniting Church WA to be distributed in the monthly mail-out on Tuesday 1
December. To include your 2016 event on the planner, email the date and title by Friday 16

Intercultural Conference and Workshop scheduled to be held on Saturday 24 and
Sunday 25 October at Noranda Uniting Church has been postponed until 2016. Guest
speaker, Rev Amelia Koh-Butler is unable to attend due to family illness.

ministry. They are seeking a minister of the Word with vision and energy to provide
strategic resourcing, pastoral and worship oversight and encouragement of discipleship.

The Northern Regional Council of the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian
Congress is seeking a person to minister in the Darwin region with its members living or
visiting in the area. This position is open to a minister of the Word, deacon or pastor. A key
aspect of the work will be networking with Uniting Church congregations in the area,
enabling them to establish and grow relationships with Indigenous members of the Uniting
Church and helping them establish pastoral care teams reaching out to Indigenous people in



