Last Sunday morning Ronald took part in the football match. It was rather cold.
The weather was not fine at all. And it even started to rain. When Ronald came
home he had a terrible headache and a red throat. Mother called the doctor. The
temperature was high. Doctor said: Ronald is really ill! He is running a high
temperature. He is sneezing and coughing now. I am going to prescribe some
medicine. Ronald should stay in bed for three days at least. He will be much
better soon.

1. - Good morning, doctor.
- Good morning, Mr. White. What's the matter with you?
- Oh, Doctor, it's quite difficult to describe my condition. First of all, I've got
a terrific headache. I've caught a cold. I have a sore throat and I haven't been
sleeping for the last fortnight already.
- Please, don't worry. I'll try to help you. Have you taken your temperature?
- Of course, I have. It's 37.50 (thirty seven point five).
- Well, let me see... Open your mouth... The things don't seem so bad as you
imagine. You've really caught a cold: your headache, cough and insomnia
are the direct aftereffects of it. The temperature is not very high, but I'll write
out some prescriptions for pills. You have to take them four times a day
during this week
- Really? Maybe you're right, Doctor. I'll try to follow your advices.
- Good luck, Mr. White. See you later.
- In a better world?
- No, no! Let's hope for the best!
2. - What is the trouble with you?
- I've caught a bad cold.
- How long are you feeling this way?
- I've been ill since Monday.
- And you are coughing a lot, aren't you?
- Yes.
- Have you taken your temperature?
- Yes, I'd taken my temperature before I left home. It was normal.
- Have you a headache or a sore throat?
- I have both.
- Have you taken anything for your headache?
- I took aspirin.
- Well, I'll examine you. It is not an ordinary cold. You have flu. I'll give you two
prescriptions which you must take to the chemist's. If you follow my instructions
you will feel better in a few days. If you don't feel better, you will have to call for
me.
- Thank you, doctor.
3.-Good morning.
- Hello, Doctor.
- Now then, how can I help you?
- Well doctor, I'm not feeling very well. I've got these awful pains in my
stomach and I haven't been sleeping at all well.
- Do you have any other symptoms? A temperature, for example?
- Well yes, I have had a bit of a high temperature.
- It looks to me - as if you've got some kind of a stomach infection.
- Oh, have I, doctor?
- Yes. Now I'm going to give you these pills. I want you to take two pills three
times a day.
- Thank you, doctor, thank you.
