2014-15 RtII Tier 3 Problem-Solving Series PaTTAN Commitments Assist the district/building level team with planning/support activities to prepare for Tier 3 Problem Solving implementation. Provide initial and follow-up training and technical assistance for Building Team members Provide assistance with collection and interpretation of benchmark, diagnostic, progress monitoring and student outcome (rate of improvement) data. Provide Information/facilitation to assist in the team’s understanding and use of scientifically validated instruction and intervention practices Support Intermediate Unit consultants to build their capacity in replicating this series. Provide financial support to cover cost of substitutes. Team members who travel more than 50 miles to PaTTAN will have hotel and travel expenses reimbursed. School District & Building Level Team Commitments Participating schools will select one student from kindergarten to second grade who requires intensive instruction and intervention Attend five training sessions with at least one administrator and the following team members: o 1 Building Principal o 2 Grade Level Teacher Leaders o 1 ESL Teacher o 1 Special Education teacher o 1 School Psychologist o 1 Reading Specialist and/or Provider of Tiered Support o 1 additional member at team’s discretion o 1 IU RtII Consultant o 1 Speech/Language Therapist Training Agenda for Year-Long Series Days 1 – 3 o Characteristics of Tier 3 students o Role and function of a Tier 3 Problem-Solving Team o Designing Tier 3 supports o Data Collection Day 4 o Rate of Improvement o Team updates Day 5 o Team presentations o Building a sustainable Tier 3 problem solving system Schedule 2 days of on-site implementation support with PaTTAN and Intermediate Unit consultants Commit to weekly progress monitoring Commit to regular team meetings to analyze progress monitoring data and align instruction and intervention with student performance data Conduct periodic fidelity checks for instruction and intervention Develop a case study presentation that includes: o Team problem solving process o Data collection procedures o Student goals, rate of improvement and final outcomes o Video recording of a problem solving meeting Principal Responsibilities 1. Insure that there is time in the schedule to provide differentiated, intensive instruction and intervention to the student receiving Tier 3 support 2. Insure that the Tier 3 Problem Solving Team is able to meet regularly. 3. Commit to developing a sustainable plan to extend Tier 3 supports and clear decisionmaking processes. 4. Inform faculty of the school’s involvement in Tier 3 Problem-Solving Training Series and lessons learned.
