Team Leaders play a crucial role in the ICS programme in all of our countries. They are the front
line support for volunteers in the field and are also a key link between volunteers and our incountry staff. Our Team Leaders provide pastoral care for our volunteers and support volunteer
learning throughout the placement. They provide key support to our in-country teams in the
delivery of this leading international volunteering programme.
The Role
The Team Leader role is perfect for any young person who has
experience of leading other groups of young people and wants to add an
element of international development work to their experience. It is an
exciting way to witness and be part of an international development
agency and learn how a growing international organisation has a positive
impact on rural communities worldwide.
Team leaders will not be involved in direct delivery of routine placement activities, but will provide
a hands-on support and mentorship role to the volunnteers in the communities, while working
very closely with the In CountryProgramme Staff, and playing a key role in supporting volunteer
learning.
Main
Responsibilities
Our Tanzania placement will have 8 team leaders – 4 in-country Team Leaders and 4 UK Team
Leaders. You will work as a pair with the UK Team Leader, supporting a team of roughly 10

activities that may fall under those themes:
1. Attend an in-country team leader induction training
2. Support in-country Pre-Placement Preparations
3. Provide Volunteer Welfare Management Support
4. Placement community activities implementation
5. Monitoring and Reporting of placement activities
6. Volunteer Financial Management Support
7. Action At Home
Before volunteer
arrival
You will be required to begin your ICS journey roughly a week before the volunteers. This is done
to help you get to know your fellow Tanzania team leaders, familiarise yourself with Restless
Development and our staff members, get to know your fellow UK Team Leaders and to better
understand what is expected of you as an ICS Team Leader with Restless Development in
Tanzania. You’ll be able to further develop the skills you’ll need to help successfully deliver the
ICS programme, and to get to know your host communities better.
