OSPI Annual Private School Timeline

OSPI Responsibilities
OSPI Title I/LAP and Consolidated Program Review
(CPR) office sends bulletin to private school
administrators and school district administrators regarding
Private School Participation in Federal Programs (Intent to
Participate) form. This includes:
 Instructions for completing the electronic Intent to
Participate form online.
 Federal Programs descriptions.
 USDA Child Nutrition program Income Guidelines.
School District Responsibilities
Private School Responsibilities
On-going consultation for current school year
continues.
OSPI Title I/LAP & Consolidated Program Review office
sends bulletin to school district administrators regarding
Private Participation (Intent to Participate) responsibilities.
This includes:
 Instructions for access to Private School
Participation in Federal Programs data.
 Contact Log on the Education Data System (EDS).
January
OSPI Title I/LAP and CPR office hosts a webinar training
regarding the Private School Participation in Federal
Programs (Intent to Participate) process January 21,
2016.
On-going consultation for current school year
continues.
Private schools contact OSPI Private Education
office to update current contact information, if
needed.
February
Private School Participation in Federal Programs (Intent to
Participate) application on EDS opens February 5, 2016.
Districts follow-up on Intent to Participate:
 Contact private schools to schedule
consultation meetings.
 Timely and meaningful consultation begins
between districts and private schools with
those private schools who have filled out the
Intent to Participate.
All approved,* non-profit elementary and
secondary private schools submit electronic
Intent to Participate form, applying to participate
in federal programs services or indicating they
do not wish to participate.
(*Approved by the State Board of Education
(SBE) the previous July with certain exceptions
approved in September.)
All approved, non-profit private schools meet
with districts for consultation.
March
Timely and meaningful consultation continues
between districts and private schools.
Contact district if the district has not scheduled
consultation meetings.
Contact private schools that have not yet
submitted the Intent to Participate form and fill
out the contact log in the Intent to Participate
system.
Continue meeting with districts for consultation.

OSPI’s Department of Private Education for
review.
OSPI sends enrollment report to Apportionment to
determine allocations.
Timely and meaningful consultation continues
between districts and private schools.
Private school approval applications sent to
OSPI’s Department of Private Education for
review.
Annual private school approval applications continue to be
reviewed. Schools in compliance will be recommended for
approval by the SBE.
District in collaboration with the private school
