As part of the Catherine the Great Film Series, the Georgia Museum of Art will show
the 1945 film “A Royal Scandal” Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. In 19th-century Russia, the
idealistic officer Chernov is appointed chief of the Imperial Guard by the Empress
Catherine the Great and navigates between the diplomacy of Grand Chancellor
Nicolai Liyitch and the plots of the generals.

Cook’s Holiday to offer up a feast

UGA Food Services and Campus Catering will have their annual Cook’s Holiday Dec.
11 and 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Village
Summit at Joe Frank Harris Commons. Tickets are $15.50 for adults and $7.75 for
children ages 6-12.

Men’s basketball team to host Lipscomb

Stegeman Coliseum. Tickets are $5 to $15.

AJC publisher, former dean to speak at Commencement

Amy Glennon, a University of Georgia alumna and first female publisher of the
Atlanta Journal-Constitution, will give the university's undergraduate
Commencement address on Dec. 13 in Stegeman Coliseum. The ceremony will begin
at 9:30 a.m. with the graduate ceremony to follow at 2:30 p.m. The university's
graduate Commencement will feature E. Culpepper “Cully” Clark, who served as
dean of the UGA Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication from 2006 to
June of this year. Both ceremonies will be broadcast live online at
http://www.ctl.uga.edu/ctlcable.

GMOA to have “Gallery Games”

The Georgia Museum of Art will have a special event, “Gallery Games: Tall Tales,”
Dec. 12 at 4:15 p.m. Children ages 7–11 are invited to join the museum staff for a
special interactive gallery tour led by Callan Steinmann, associate curator of
education.

Garden to host hiking club

Andie Bisceglia of the State Botanical Garden of Georgia’s education staff will lead a
family hiking club excursion Dec. 14 at 9 a.m. The cost is $5 for individuals or $15
for a family. Participants should meet at the Visitor Center and Conservatory
fountain.

Performing Arts Center presents “The Nutcracker”

The University of Georgia Performing Arts Center will present the State Ballet
Theatre of Russia in “The Nutcracker” Dec. 21-22 at the Classic Center Theatre. The
holiday favorite will run for three performances, Dec. 21 at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and
Dec. 22 at 3 p.m. “The Nutcracker” performance is presented through a
collaboration between the UGA Performing Arts Center and the Classic Center.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children.

Garden to have full moon hike

The monthly full moon hike at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia will be Dec. 17
at 7 p.m. Each hike focuses on a different topic such as the moon, constellations or
nocturnal creatures. Participants should meet at the Visitor Center and
Conservatory fountain.
