What are the common symptoms of breast cancer? Some of the common symptoms of breast cancer are: painless lumps in the breast or armpit, in-drawing of the nipple, discharge from the nipple (especially if it is blood-stained), a non-healing ulcer on the breast skin, itching, scaling or rash on the nipple and areola, etc. Of these, a lump is the commonest symptom. Pain in the breast is commonly not a symptom of breast cancer, at least in early stages, but presence or absence of pain does not preclude diagnosis of cancer if other suspicious symptoms are present.
