CAFOD HARVEST FAST DAY
Friday, 3rd October is the CAFOD Harvest Fast Day. Our
morning Mass will be at St. Richard’s Church at 11 o’clock,
where children from our local primary schools will be present.
Next weekend we will have a second collection for CAFOD in
support of their wonderful work, when as well as praying for
successful harvests for people in the developing world, we are
asked to go without something to free up money to make a
positive difference.
St. Mary’s Holy Communion Programme will be
starting shortly; if any child NOT attending St. Mary’s
School wishes to enrol on the programme will you
please contact Fiona Keane on 07748 516 898 or
Sharon Wilson on 07921 840 827 as soon as possible
so that their child can be registered.
SYNOD OF BISHOPS Today, Sunday 28th September is to
be set aside as a Day of Prayer for the third Extraordinary
General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, scheduled to take
place in Rome from 5th to 29th October to treat the topic: The
Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of
Evangelisation.
MARIAN PROCESSION The procession will take place on
Saturday, 4th October at 10.30am starting from St. Edward’s
Church, Rusholme and finishing at Platt Fields Park where
the Right Rev. Bishop Brain will join the faithful in this
celebration of faith. See poster on the notice board in the church
porch.
ST. MARY’S PARISH CENTRE EVENTS
MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING - You are all invited to
join us after Mass today Sunday, 28th September in support of
Macmillan Cancer Support. Cakes and refreshments will be
available including bacon/sausage barm or toasted sandwich
with tea/coffee.
CELEBRATE NATIONAL OLDER PEOPLE’S DAY
IN LEVENSHULME Wednesday 1st October. If you are
aged 50 or over and live in Levenshulme and South Gorton, join
us on 1st October from 11.30am – 2.30pm. You will be able to
speak to representatives from a wide range of organisations such
as –
 Action on Hearing Loss
 Manchester Carers’ Forum
 Alzheimer’s Society
 Macmillan Cancer Support
 Self Help – Mental Health
There will be activities including dance, yoga, massage, music,
Belle Vue reminiscence and more. From 1.30pm afternoon tea
will be served. See poster in the church porch.
CHRISTMAS FAIR – Sunday 7th December
Volunteers required – for people to set up and tidy up after the
fair. Also people who can help man stalls. If you can offer any
help no matter how small please put your name and phone
number on the list at the back of Church and we will contact you
nearer the time.
Donations of Toiletries, Bric-a-Brac, Fancy Goods, Bottles,
Games, Books plus items for our Father Christmas’ Grotto.
Your support is needed to help make our Christmas Fair a great
success. A box can be found at the back of church for any
donations. Thank you
