Speaker Inquiry Application PMI KC Mid-America Chapter is a chaptered component with the Project Management Institute. The chapter sponsors a variety of education opportunities for our members and the community. We strive to procure quality speakers on topics of interest to project managers. Our events include: a. Bi-monthly chapter dinner meetings—these meetings are held at a major hotel in the Kansas City area; meetings are held on the second Monday evening of January, March, May, July, and November; attendance is approximately 100-120. The meeting includes a buffet dinner, sponsor raffles, chapter business, and the featured speaker of the evening. As a policy, KCPMI does NOT pay a speakers fee for this event; we will pay for reasonable travel expenses as approved by the VP Programs. b. Fun educational events—KCPMI tries to hold educational events in the months in which there is NOT a regular chapter dinner meeting to appeal to various demographics of our project management community. These events are low cost (under $25 for the attendee), held in more relaxed settings such as casinos, museums, trains, etc. , and held in areas of the city outside of the South Johnson County Kansas area, in order to reach members who are centralized in other geographic areas. c. Saturday workshops—workshops are planned throughout the year on topics requested by our members. Attendance is open to members and the community; normally for 25-30 attendees. KCPMI tries to procure venues at no charge; we provide breakfast and lunch. Registration fees MUST be under $200 per registered attendee, including any fee to the workshop facilitator. Chapter volunteers assist with the logistics of the class. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed as approved by the VP Professional Development. d. Specialized technical training—when there is a need for a class in a specialized technical area, such as Agile, Risk Management, etc., KCPMI may contract with a vendor to provide this training. These arrangements are made through the VP Professional Development. e. Professional Development Days 2014—this annual conference is held in the fall for two days at the Overland Park Convention Center. There are 450+ registered attendees plus sponsors. KCPMI procures both keynote and workshop (90 minute) speakers on a variety of hard and soft skills as related to the profession of project management. Workshop speakers are scheduled in tracks and each session may seat 50 – 400 attendees, depending upon registration selection. Fees and travel expenses must be approved by the VP Professional Development Days. 1 How To Use This Form 1.
