CFP Computational Arts MOOC Q1 The purpose of this Call for Proposals (CFP) is to solicit content from SUNY faculty to make SUNY’s first Coursera MOOC into an Open SUNY flagship course covering artistic, cultural, and production aspects of digital technology. In fall 2013, Dr. Margaret Schedel from the department of Music and the Consortium for Digital Arts, Culture and Technology (cDACT) at Stony Brook lead a team who developed and launched SUNY’s first Coursera MOOC entitled Introduction to Computational Arts. This fifteen-week course covers some programming, manipulation of digital images, and creation of digital audio, culminating in a student project which incorporates all three. While the MOOC addresses the production and artistic aspects of digital technology, it does not address the cultural implications, which is one of the cornerstones of cDACT. In 2014, Coursera announced specializations--20 week's worth of lessons, with a capstone project. The Introduction to Computational Arts MOOC is only five lessons away from meeting the specialization criteria. All SUNY faculty with subject matter expertise are invited to help expand the MOOC by proposing a week of content and participating in the course as a guest speaker. If your proposal is selected, your stipend will be $1500 to create one week of content. Stony Brook will provide you with instructional design and technical support and bring you to campus for video recording. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. To complete this CFP, you will need to cite at least one learning objective from the CDT 208 syllabus to which your segment would align, create at least one learning objective specific to your segment, describe the content of your segment and how it will contribute to students’ understanding of your learning objective, submit a sample learning activity aligned to your objective, provide a sample scoring rubric for peer grading of the activity, attach your bio and a 1-3-minute video explaining why you would like to be involved in this project. This CFP must be submitted by midnight, Monday, April 6, 2015. Awardees will be announced on May 1. Video recording at Stony Brook will take place in May, June & July. Additional instructional components, including discussion questions and an 8-question quiz, must be submitted by August 1. Any materials in need of revision must be submitted by August 15. If you need to pause for any length of time while completing this CFP, you may return at a later date, as long as you use the same link, browser, and computer. Otherwise your previous responses will be lost. You may preview the CFP here. Q2 Last Name Q3 First Name Q4 What university or college? Q5 What is your academic department and rank?
