Purpose of the New Role:
The E-Learning and Media Officer will support learning technologists within the Health E-Learning and
Media (HELM) Team in the delivery of all modules hosted on the Moodle VLE platform in the School of
Health Sciences in line with the E-Learning Strategy, School Quality strategies and the Moodle
Everywhere programme.
The role holder will work closely with the E-Learning and Project Development Officer to implement
support/training plans and to provide administrative support to ensure students and staff have
appropriate access to the e-learning systems and materials they require on our systems (Moodle, Rogo,
Turnitin, Pebblepad).
The role will be ‘front-facing’ as the role holder will work closely with students and staff to support and
also to ascertain requirements to feed back to the Learning Technologists. This will also involve providing
first-line support for any E-Learning queries and in particular, coordinating the HELM ‘help account’.
In addition the role holder will support the implementation of, and maintain, a new media repository to
support the team and School staff in accessing and discovering rich-media materials that can be used in
their courses. The role holder will support and disseminate copyright information to staff and students
within the School and will provide day to day advice with the support of HELM Team members.

Providing E-Learning Support (VLE, e-assessment system, Turnitin, PebblePad, Curriculum
Mapping), maintaining Moodle module content (e.g. core course documents and
handouts), ascertaining staff requirements, liaising with Learning Technologists to share
and disseminate information.
Media repository - working with team members to identify and implement the most
suitable solution; populating and maintaining this resource. Providing advice and guidance
on copyright for staff and students in using resources for teaching and learning.
Staff and Student support and training; providing front-facing support for the HELM team
and answering/investigating queries.
Working with the HELM manager to manage the team’s intranet pages, including
documentation of systems and processes related to e-learning.
Keeping track of projects as they arise and liaising with the E-Learning and Project
Development Officer to support maintenance of the HELM project list.
Provide support for e-learning academic leads in the evaluation (e.g. electronic surveys)
and dissemination of research projects.

Additional Information
The E-Learning and Media Officer is a key role within the HELM team. The HELM team provides an
important service within the School developing and delivering high-quality and high-volume e-learning
provision to all staff and students.
HELM work with a broad range of teams across the School to ensure a smooth experience for students,
and support staff in creating and delivering their online content.
The HELM team deliver a diverse set of projects. The role holder has the opportunity to be involved in a
range of activities and to participate in whole team projects, such as a MOOC.
