Scott 2007, University of California, Davis M.S. in Entomology Advisor: Dr. Thomas W. Scott 2006, University of California, Davis M.S. in Epidemiology Emphasis in Infectious Disease Epidemiology Advisor: Dr. Thomas W. Scott 2001, University of California, Berkeley B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology Emphasis in Biochemistry Honors Thesis: Characterization of the E1-E2 Interaction in Human Papillomavirus Type 18 Advisor: Dr. Michael Botchan RESEARCH EXPERIENCE 2002 – 2004, Post Graduate Researcher, University of California, Davis Developed genetic markers in the yellow fever mosquito, Aedes aegypti, using single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis of single copy nuclear DNAs. Performed DNA cloning and sequence analysis to characterize markers. 2000 – 2001, Undergraduate Researcher, University of California, Berkeley Analyzed interactions between the E1 and E2 proteins of Human Papillomavirus through in vitro binding assays, Western blotting, and enzymatic assays. Carried out recombinant protein expression in E. coli and purified proteins by column chromatography. TEACHING EXPERIENCE 2006 – 2008, Teaching Assistant, Biological Sciences 1C, University of California, Davis Presented lectures, gave demonstrations, and helped students perform experiments in plant biology laboratory course for two quarters. Duties also included holding office hours and review sessions. 2001, Undergraduate Instructor, Biology 1A, University of California, Berkeley Aided with experiments, performed dissections, and presented lectures in molecular biology laboratory course for two semesters. 1999, Undergraduate Instructor, Biology 1B, University of California, Berkeley Provided guidance with experimental design, data collection, and data analysis in field ecology course for one semester.
