ABERDEEN STUDY VISIT ESEN has organised a study visit to sunny Aberdeen on the 21st and 22nd November. This is your chance to see four successful Aberdonian social enterprises in action. This year, the study visit will be overnight so that you have more time to get to know your fellow ESEN members. There are 12 places on the study visit and the fee for taking part is £15 per person. This will include your travel, evening meal, accommodation and lunch. THE SOCIAL ENTERPRISES Foyer Enterprise Foyer Enterprise is the highly successful trading arm of Aberdeen Foyer, a charity and social enterprise that works to alleviate youth homelessness and unemployment. The restaurant has been voted one of the best places to eat in Aberdeen in the ‘Scotland the Best’ guide and is ranked in the top 5% of restaurants in Aberdeen on TripAdvisor. Their activities include a Creative Waste Exchange, which sells office furniture and arts and crafts materials; upholstery and sewing classes; garden waste collections and a Zero Waste Volunteers programme. Aberdeen Forward was one of the first organisations to take part in Zero Waste Scotland’s Revolve programme which works with reuse organisations to improve quality standards and customer experience, with the aim of getting more people in Scotland engaging in reuse activities. www.aberdeenforward.co.uk Transition Extreme Transition Extreme aims to get increase participation in sport by engaging young people and adults who would not get involved in traditional sporting activities. They have a skatepark, climbing wall, pool, café, retail space, meeting rooms and recreational space all under one roof.
