Special Issue on “social networks analysis and its application”
Theme and Scope
Nowadays, various social applications such as blogs, email, instant messaging, social networking (Facebook,
Twitter, and LinkedIn etc.), wikis, and social bookmarking have been widely popularized by providing digital
platforms for social interaction. Today’s online social network or mobile social network pervade all aspects of
our daily lives, and contain vast amount of data. From this vast amount of data we are able to extract and
analyze the social networks of new-era that can be consist of millions of nodes and connections. Meanwhile,
various critical issues such as clustering & evolution mining of social networks, modeling and understanding
of social behaviors via computational means, information spread and modeling, social influence analysis,
social recommendations, etc. provide significant challenges. Therefore, this special issue is devoted to
analysis of these large-scale social structures and what is more important to identify the areas where social
network analysis can be applied and provide the knowledge that is not accessible for other types of analysis.
The scope of this special issue includes, but not limiting to:



















Communities detection and analysis in large scale online social networks
Role detection and evolution in social networks
Content evolution and Information diffusion in mobile/online social networks
Mining dynamics and evolution patterns of social networks
Mining of user behavior patterns in social networks
Visualization approaches for large-scale dynamic networks
Social influence analysis in large scale social networks
Adoption of new services on social network platforms
Data models for social networks and social media
Temporal analysis on social networks topologies
Recommender systems – Collaborative filtering and personalization
Information / opinion / knowledge spread and modeling
Management of online/mobile social network data
Streaming algorithms for social media data
Information propagation and assimilation in social networks
Data mining and machine learning in social networks
Privacy and security in social networks
Detection, analysis, prevention of spam, phishing, and misbehavior in social networks
Novel social applications and systems
Instructions for Manuscripts
The submitted papers must be original and must not be under consideration in any other venue. All submitted papers will be
reviewed by at least three reviewers and selected based on their originality, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. The
editors will approve final decisions on accepted papers. Manuscripts should not exceed 16 pages in length and must be prepared
according to the following journal’s Author Guidelines: http://www.cc-pe.net/journalinfo/authors.html#guidelines. Prospective
authors should submit full manuscripts with MS Word format or PDF format.
