Written submissions will be checked automatically by the Turnitin
software. You may make a test submission before the submission date, but
please note that Turnitin requires a 24 hour separation between
submissions, so you must do this at least 24 hours before the final
submission time.
1.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to formulate a clear and
articulate enquiry-based project/plan which engages critically with
key debates in academic practice.
2.
Justify the project/plan to an audience using appropriate media.
The group will choose a topic which addresses a key debate in academic
practice for a negotiated assessment. The format of the submission will
also be negotiated but must consist of a ‘product’, evidence of
collaborative working and agreed methods. This assignment is 40% of the
total mark for this unit.
In exceptional situations, it may be necessary for an individual alternative
to the group assessment to be arranged. This will require a successful
Exceptional Factors application to have been completed.
The size of the project will depend on its nature, but might be something
like a 30 minute presentation, a 15 minute video, 16 page booklet or 15002000 word report
There is no specific penalty for an overlong submission but the markers will
only consider work up to the agreed upper limit of size. Appendices or
handouts are not included in the size limit.
The exact format of the feedback will be negotiated with the group to
reflect the nature of the assessment but will include an annotated copy of
the marking criteria together with a short overview in written, audio or
verbal form as agreed.
Please contact Rachel Forsyth if you have any queries about the
assignment, or use the discussion forum on the VLE.
Requests for Exceptional Factors (EFs) should be discussed with Rachel in
advance so that we can make arrangements for submissions and
adjustments to the group working; the timetable for applying for EFs is
provided in the programme handbook or can be obtained from Rick Lighten
in the APD office.
Marking Criteria/Feedback sheet : sections will be highlighted to show performance.
