Membership Mixer Survey
This survey was designed by Debi Kinney, GMIC Las Vegas President (2011-2012). This survey provides a
great example of how to gauge your first membership event and how to use this information to create a
strong program plan for the future.
Questions were asked on a scale basis

strongly agree, agree, neither agree or disagree

strongly agree, agree, neither agree or disagree, disagree
Comments for this section:
-Instructions were not clear on which way to enter. Unclear direction was given by hotel staff on which
way to enter.
-Parking unclear as Chateau valet closed. Sugar Factory staff not briefed on event.
-A little difficult to find.
-Perfect outdoor venue. LV needs more places like this.

-The stairs were closed off and no signs directing me to the registration area.

excellent, good, average

Comments:
-Meeting and speaking with Heater was most informative. It gave me the insight to the purpose of the
event.
Question: What was the best part about the event? What about this event needed improvement?
-I think it was a good mixer and a nice way to introduce the organization to the community and share its
goals. I would imagine there will be more as time goes on so, it was a great start. Thank you for having
us.
-Best was networking. Improvement – let people know that event is “clearly” outside in 100 degree
heat and dress appropriately.
-To work some more sustainable elements into the food or food trays.
-Networking. I got a lot accomplished.
-This was my first GMIC event and it was great meeting everyone. It was also a pleasure to meet so
many people who feel so strongly about making this city green.
Question: (do research in your area to determine what the best date and time for your event s might be
based on other meetings and association gatherings in the region)
The second Wednesday of the month is a good day for me to attend events:
strongly agree, agree, disagree
Question: What timeframe works best for you to attend GMIC (your chapter) events?
evening events (5-7pm)
mid-day events (11am-1pm)
Please rank the following proposed program topics based on your level of interest: Review GMIC
Global Calendar of Events, see if it makes sense to align Global education initiatives with your events.
Also, do research in your region and with your program or education directors on what topics make the
most sense based on your membership and area.
Examples:
Understanding Organic Foods and Wines
would attend based on this topic; might attend based on this topic, don’t know if they would or would
not attend based on this topic; might not attend based on this topic, would not attend based on this
topic
Sustainability Practices in Green Meeting Spaces
New Innovations in Local Recycling
Innovations in the Sustainability and Tourism Industries
Green Transportation
CONCLUSIONS – especially pertinent to the Programs/Education Committee:
-Wednesday evenings from 5-7pm should be our standing event day/time
-Based on the results above I propose that we organize the program schedule as follows, adding in one
additional program which would be an overview of GMIC as an organization (I’ll see if we can get
Tamara Kennedy-Hill, Executive Director of GMIC, to fly in and be the speaker once we determine the
date for this program). Let’s discuss at the July Board meeting (or sooner if needed):
Sustainability Practices for Green Meeting Spaces (July)
New Innovations in Local Recycling (August)
Innovations in the Sustainability and Tourism Industries (September)
Green Transportation (October)
Understanding Organic Foods and Wines (November)
Holiday Social/Networking Only (December)
