The MTN Uganda May Golf Mug ended with a lot of excitement as golfers took to the Greens and battled it out at a game they love. Soothing music and refreshments courtesy of MTN set a relaxing mood as members cracked jokes amongst themselves. The May MTN Uganda Golf Tournament which took place at Kitante Golf course last Saturday saw Solomon Kego emerge winner with 66 nett from the all-day golf activity, followed by Abbey Bagalana with 74 nett as a runner-up. Kego takes his place among the lots of winners this year, edging out Kabuye Gerald who took the top cup in the Labour Day tournament last month with 71 nett. He has been playing for long and was once one of the stars. Kego who played in handicap 5 is son to veteran players Simon Kego Senior and Alice Kego once the women golf chairperson. Speaking about his win, Kego said his consistency and focus on the course paid off. "I played normal golf. It was just my good day to win because anybody below handicap 5 is just as good," he noted. In the Ladies category, perennial winner Kabenge Kathy maintained the top position with 73 nett registering a three point’s drop from last month’s 70 Count Back. Harriet Kitaka emerged as Runner-up with 76 nett on count back. Playing in Group B, Fernandez Nestor took the day with 70 nett while Sam Nahamya was crowned Group C winner with 68 net; Andrew Muhwezi with 72 nett took the lead in Group D, closely followed by Xiang Ming with 72 nett as Runner-up. The whole day golfing event attracted high participation from regular Kampala Club Golf members. Giving a sneak preview of the forthcoming MTN Mid-year Golf Day MTN Uganda General Manager -Corporate Services Anthony Katamba emphasized MTN’s commitment to continue supporting golf. Katamba said the Golf Day is expected to attract high flying golfers from across Uganda.
