Dallas Brass and Trio Cavatina, Next Cultural Arts Series Performers
Oklahoma City – Due to this season’s winter weather, the Oklahoma City Community College’s (OCCC)
Cultural Arts Series (CAS) performance by Trio Cavatina has been re-scheduled for mid-March, which
means two performances in one month! Guests can enjoy a variety of music including classical by Trio
Cavatina, and a mixture of classical, Dixieland, swing, Broadway, Hollywood, and patriotic music by
Dallas Brass.
Dallas Brass, March 1
Set for Tuesday, March 1 at 7 p.m. in the Bruce Owen Theater, the Dallas Brass ensemble will
appeal to audiences of all ages with a variety of musical offerings.
Since its founding in 1983 by Michael Levine, the Dallas Brass has become one of America’s
foremost musical ensembles. The group has established a unique blend of traditional brass instruments
with a full complement of drums and percussion, creating a sound of extraordinary range and musical
challenges.
The ensemble has released six recordings: Debut, Dallas Brass II, A Merry Christmas with Brass,
Windborne, Nutcracker, and American Musical Journey. The Dallas Brass has a strong dedication to
working with young musicians, frequently going into the public schools to present clinics and workshops
for students of all ages.

Trio Cavatina, March 22
Mark your calendar for March 22 as the Trio Cavatina delights classical music lovers with works
by Schumann, Thomas and Brahms at 7 p.m. in the Bruce Owen Theater.
Pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute, violinist Harumi Rhodes, and cellist Priscilla Lee formed Trio Cavatina
in 2005 at the renowned Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont. Deeply rooted in a strong sense of shared
musical values, Trio Cavatina has rapidly emerged as one of today's outstanding chamber ensembles
whose committed music-making prompted Harris Goldsmith to describe the trio, in his 2008 Musical
America article, as offering ”potent, intense interpretations”.
Trio Cavatina was the winner of the 2009 Naumburg Chamber Music Competition. The prize
included their Carnegie Hall debut concert where they gave the world premiere performance of “The
Faces of Guernica” by Richard Danielpour commissioned for the Trio by the Naumburg Foundation.
Performance tickets are available at www.occc.edu/CAS/Tickets.html, or by calling (405) 6827579. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the performance. For more information,
