About the award
The John H. “Jack” Snyder
Community Service Award
recognizes agencies and
organizations that provide
outstanding new and innovative
recreation and park services to
persons with disabilities.
The purpose of the award is to
recognize those organizations that are
providing high quality services and
to encourage others to follow these examples. Advocating for the provision of recreation
and park services to all citizens of the Commonwealth including those with special needs
is a high priority for the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society.
The award is given annually at the Annual PRPS State Conference and includes a
scholarship for a staff member involved with the recreation programs to attend the annual
conference.
The major portion of the funding for this award is provided by a special fund established
for this purpose by Jack Snyder.
