National Standards for Music Education, as defined by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) 1. Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music. 2. Interpretation Band students at all levels are expected to build upon the 5 foundations of quality musical performance during each rehearsal, as determined by MSBOA. Differentiated Learning for Band. Examples include: 1. Putting weaker players on easier parts 2. Writing in the names of notes or fingerings for students who have trouble reading the music 3. Modeling the music for the students and having them play the music in response 4. Sitting by a player and pointing to each note as the student plays 5. Counting rhythms out loud with the students 6. Having the students read the note names aloud
