We hope you have had an enjoyable summer – despite the weather. We are all raring to go into this new session and we hope that you will be able to come along and join us in many of our activities again this year. Welcome to new members of our team – Mrs McGlone is our Nursery teacher this session, Miss Gray is P4a’s class teacher, Miss Devlin is P5a’s class teacher and Mrs Watt is P6a’s class teacher. We would also like to welcome Ms Inglis who will be working with our Additional Support Needs team. New children and their families are joining us and we hope they have a great time here at Eastern. Playground Uniform Thank you to all those who have supported our approach to uniform this session. Many of our children arrived looking very smart and ready to learn. There are lots of shiny black shoes and school sweatshirts in evidence – this really helps to build a team spirit and sense of belonging! Thank you for your ongoing support. Please remember that parents should leave the playground after the 9.00am bell to allow the children to come into school in a calm, orderly manner. During the first 3 weeks, however, parents of our new P1 children may wish to stand with their children until their teacher comes out to the line. Wet Weather Twitter – We regularly tweet information about the school and photographs of the children within the school setting. We encourage you to follow us - @Eastern_Primary There is a photo of the red gate on the front page. Please text the school to let us know that you have requested access to our Twitter feed with your user name School starts at 9.00am – even on rainy days. Please send your child to school as close to this time as possible, wearing suitable clothing. There are some sheltered areas in the playground which can be used on wet mornings. Information on term time dates, holiday dates and in-service days are available on the Dundee City Council website - http://www.dundeecity.gov.uk/education/schoolholidays1 Please pay for school dinners in advance when possible.
