Mary Quigley Feidt Leadership Award Administered by AchieveMpls Mary Q. Feidt served the Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) in many capacities until her untimely death in 2001. She exemplified the attributes of outstanding leadership in her roles as teacher, principal, and principal on special assignment. Mary was a daily model of energy, dedication, integrity and professional expertise. It was her commitment to leadership development that moved her family to cultivate this leadership award fund for MPS principals and assistant principals. DESCRIPTION The Mary Q. Feidt Leadership Fund will provide one award of up to $5,000 to a Minneapolis Public School principal or assistant principal with five or less years’ experience in this role. The award is to be used for training, education, experiential learning and/or other activities intended to foster innovation and creativity in educational leadership. The Mary Q. Feidt Leadership Award Selection Committee will consist of MPS and AchieveMpls staff, as well as donors to the Award Fund. The award funds will be available for use after July 1, 2013 and must be spent by June 30, 2014. Unspent funds from the award will be forfeited after June 30, 2014. ELIGIBILITY The Mary Q. Feidt Leadership Award Program is open to individuals with five years or less experience as a MPS principal or assistant principal. A recipient may receive only one award per career. APPLICATION Applications must consist of the following: o Completed application cover sheet o An essay (no more than two pages) that describes the applicant’s proposed activities and how they relate to long-term professional goals and educational leadership o One page outline of proposed budget (max $5,000 expenses) o Letter of recommendation from current supervisor (must include examples of leadership qualities and/or professional strengths; must also note how the proposed activity will impact professional development and educational leadership) o Letter of recommendation from a peer or colleague (must include examples of leadership qualities and/or professional strengths) DEADLINE: Monday, April 22, 2013.
