TRSM STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - 2014 TO 2015
As part of our ongoing commitment to the TRSM Staff Professional Development Program two types of
workshops are planned for the 2014-2015 academic year to address skill building in software (EXCEL &
Powerpoint) as well as a personality awareness program called Lumina Spark. Lumina Spark is a tool
that builds self-awareness, identifies personality traits of colleagues and helps individuals appreciate the
differences among colleagues and insight in how to effectively manage communication with individuals
or groups with diverse personalities.
PARTICIPANTS & APPLICATION PROCESS
The sessions will be open to all OPSEU & MAC employees in TRSM. While the Excel and Powerpoint
workshops will have an unlimited participant pool the Lumina Spark workshop will be limited to 20
participants. For the Lumina Spark workshop we ask that individuals who are interested in participating
in this workshop fill out the attached application form and explain why you believe the workshop will
contribute to your professional development plans. We also ask that your Chairs, Directors and
Managers sign your application. Completed and signed applications should be submitted to Nancy
Amaral by email at namaral@ryerson.ca. Asher Alkoby, Associate Dean Administration and Nancy
Amaral, Manager, Administration will be reviewing applications received from staff.

LUMINA SPARK WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Lumina Spark provides highly interactive and fun experiences in which learners explore who they are,
using an individualized psychometric profile tool called a Lumina Portrait. It provides a colourful
framework for better self-understanding and helps people identify how to improve their working
relationships with others. By applying the Lumina Spark model, learners can unlock many business
benefits.
