Offer of free Danish language course Welcome to the local authority of xxx . As a non-national having reached the age of 18 and moved to our local authority, you have the opportunity to participate in a free Danish language course. If you want to learn Danish - now or at a later time - please read this information letter carefully. How do I start a Danish language course? If you want to start a Danish language course, please contact xxx no later than two weeks after receipt of this letter. You will be referred to the language centre xxx, where you can start a course no later than two weeks after referral. You can also select another language centre than xxx. You can obtain more information about the various language centres when you contact the local authority. IMPORTANT Your right to a Danish language course (Danish for the labour market) is valid for one year and six months from the day when you receive the course offer. The time limit applies even if you do not turn op. If you do not contact the local authority within two weeks, the period of one year and six months will start four weeks after your receipt of this letter. So, for each day passing after the four weeks, you will have less time available to complete the 250 hours. If you fail to complete the 250 hours within one year and six months, you will not be able to follow the Danish language training programme later. If you want to participate in the Danish language course, but are prevented due to illness, maternity or paternity leave or work, please contact the local authority to postpone your starting date. You can find more information under More information. What types of courses can I follow? Danish for the labour market • A beginner's course of up to 250 hours' tuition in five cycles of 50 hours • Offered as both day and evening classes • The offer is valid for no more than one year and six months from the day when you receive the course offer. The time limit applies even if you do not turn op. • If you complete the 250 hours within a period of one year and six months, you can learn more Danish by continuing on a Danish language training programme. Danish language training programme • Being a comprehensive programme, the Danish language training programme is divided into six teaching modules and concludes with a state-controlled exam • Three Danish language training programmes are available: Danish language training programmes 1, 2 and 3 • You can only start a Danish language training programme if you have completed the 250 hours' Danish for the labour market within the time limit of one year and six months. • At the completion of the 250 hours, you will on the basis of e.g. a test be placed on the Danish language training programme and the module that reflects your skills level • You can participate in a Danish language training programme for a maximum of three years from the time when you are able to start the Danish language training programme after completing the Danish for the labour market course. Enclosed in this letter, you will find an illustration showing the designs of the various offers. Who is this information letter intended for? Non-nationals 1) who have reached the age of 18 and 2) have not been referred to Danish language courses prior to 1 January 2014 and 3) are not refugees nor have been reunited with a refugee family member, immigrant or Dane. • Greenlanders, Faroeses or returning expatriate Danes may participate in the same offers as the above non-nationals. • As an element of an integration programme, refugees or family reunified people will straight away be offered the comprehensive Danish language training programme.
