BRITISH COUNCIL UKRAINE WILL AWARD 15 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ARTS PROFESSIONALS TO IMPROVE THEIR ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS This is a unique opportunity for Ukrainian arts managers, artists and culture journalists to improve their English language skills with a one-year course at the British Council Language School. Scholarship description: We will offer 15 successful candidates partial funding of a 120 hour-English course at the British Council (Kyiv) starting from 1 November 2015. This needs to be completed within a 12-month period. All class materials will also be provided free of charge. Before starting you will be placement tested in order to ensure you will study in the right level. Eligible Candidates: Application for the British Council’s scholarship is open to Ukrainian citizens who have been working in the Ukrainian arts sector as arts practitioners, arts managers, arts promoters, journalists, etc. for the last three years. Requirements: - Level of English: B1-B2 - Commitment to attend studies - Age: over 18 years old The British Council promotes Equality, Diversity and Inclusion therefore there are no gender or nationality restrictions towards candidates. Fee: The winner will have to cover the cost of the first 30 hours of studies (UAH 4,000). If this is completed successfully within an agreed period of time, the British Council will cover the cost of the remaining 90 hours, in two instalments of 30 and 60 hours. Application deadline: 11 October 2015 Selection Process: 15 winners will be selected by a jury panel consisting of representatives of the British Council and an experienced Ukrainian arts professional. The main criteria used for selection will be applicants’ strong motivation and proof that the scholarship will boost your arts career and activities. Winners will be informed of the results of their application during the week of 19 October 2015, and their names will be published on our website by 23 October 2015. Timeline: 1 September – call for applications 11 October – deadline for applications 12 - 18 October– selection process From 19 October – notification of winners 22 – 30 October –placement test for winners at the British Council office and payment for first 30 hours of studies Personal data: The British Council will collect and store the names and email addresses of all applicants and the additional contact details of winners. The British Council will use this personal data for the following purposes: managing the relationship between the applicants and the British Council; communicating with applicants to answer their queries about the Competition; communicating with winners and arranging for the placement testing and regular checks on the learning process; marketing and publicity in accordance with section Publicity below. By participating in the Competition, applicants consent to their personal data being processed by the British Council in accordance with, and for the purposes set out in, this Personal data section. Publicity and rights: The British Council intends to publish the names and photographs of the winners on the British Council’s websites, Facebook pages, Twitter pages, press releases and in other promotional and marketing material. In addition, the British Council may write and publish articles about the winner’s achievements at the end of the learning process. By entering the Competition, each applicant agrees to the use of their name and image and agrees to cooperate with any such publicity or marketing if they win the scholarship. Other Conditions: The scholarship is neither refundable nor redeemable for cash. Applicants confirm that all the information submitted in their CV and motivation letter is true. Participation in the application process implies acceptance of all of these conditions. Failure to comply with any of the obligations described above will entail the loss of the scholarship.
