HONEYPOT PRACTICE UPDATE
CQC Site Inspection
We had a CQC site inspection in September 2015 at Charlton
Medical Centre. This was highly successful and we received
very positive feedback from the Inspector. Charlton Medical
Centre has been approved by the CQC as an additional location
for us to provide care to patients.
Premises development
We are awaiting final planning approval for the development
and extension of the premises at Honeypot Medical Centre. Our
Project Manager is working closely with NHS England on
specifics of the project.
See a doctor at the Honeypot or Charlton site
Patients are now successfully being seen across both sites, with
clinicians having full access to patients' clinical records
following the merger of the databases of Honeypot and
Charlton Medical Centre in August 2015

Our Senior Partner Dr Chaand
Nagpaul appointed CBE in
Queen's Birthday Honours
Dr Nagpaul, who has been honoured
for services to primary care, said:
"I am truly touched and humbled to
receive this award. It is a tribute to the
hard work and dedication of over 40,000
GPs across the UK, who I am immensely
proud and privileged to represent. This
honour equally belongs to the discipline
of general practice - the most treasured
jewel in the NHS's crown and the
bedrock of our health service providing
personalised and trusted care to over 1
million patients daily."

Enhanced Nurses and the new Virtual
Ward
The virtual ward in Harrow is an innovative
scheme in Harrow chaired by our Partner Dr
Meena Thakur to serve our most vulnerable
patients. It brings together a multidisciplinary
group of professionals including GP’s, Elderly
Care Physicians, Palliative care, District nurses
and Social workers. The team also includes
enhanced nurses who visit patient’s proactively at
home to help prevent problems before they arise.
NHS HEALTH CHECK
As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing high blood pressure, heart disease or type 2 diabetes.
Your NHS Health Check can spot early signs and help prevent these happening to you. If you are
between 40-74 years old you are eligible so please book an appointment with our Practice Nurse or
Pharmacist for your health check today.
GET YOUR VACCINES TODAY
Flu: You can get the flu vaccine this
winter at the GP practice. It is free if you
are pregnant, over 65 or have a health
condition such as asthma, diabetes, a chest,
heart, liver or kidney problem.
Shingles: This is a one off single injection
you can have any time of the year or with
your flu vaccine.
 From September 2015 the shingles vaccine is
routinely available to people aged 70 and 78.
You become eligible for the vaccine on the first
day of September 2015 after you've turned 70 or
78 and remain so until the last day of August
2016.
 In addition, anyone who was eligible for
immunisation in the first two years of the
programme but has not yet been vaccinated
against shingles remains eligible until their 80th
birthday. This includes:
 people aged 71 and 72 on 1 September
2015 people aged 79
PREVENTING CERVICAL CANCER
The NHS Cervical Screening Programme aims to reduce
the number of women who develop cervical cancer and
the number of women who die from the condition. Since
the screening programme was introduced in the 1980s, the
number of cervical cancer cases has decreased by about
7% each year. All women who are registered with a GP
are invited for cervical screening (smear test):
• aged 25 to 49 – every three years
• aged 50 to 64 – every five years
• over 65 – only women who haven't been screened since
age 50 or who have recently had abnormal tests
Being screened regularly means any abnormal changes in
the cells of the cervix can be identified at an early stage
and, if necessary, treated to stop cancer developing.
LADIES, PLEASE CONTACT RECEPTION TO
BOOK YOUR SMEAR TEST WITH OUR
SKILLED PRACTICE NURSES.
IS YOUR CHILD PROTECTED?
AN EASIER WAY TO GET YOUR
PRESCRIPTION
If you collect repeat prescriptions you will
not have to visit your GP practice just to pick
up your paper prescription. Instead, your GP
will send the prescription electronically to
the pharmacy you choose, saving you time.
The prescription is an electronic message so
there is no paper prescription to lose.
Childhood Immunisations are really important to protect
them from infections that can be life threatening.
You can find out when they are due in your child’s red book
or on the website link below.
Most of them are due at aged 2, 3, 4, 12 months and
subsequently at around 4 & 14 years old.
If you're not sure whether your children have had all your
routine vaccinations, ask your GP or practice nurse to find
out for you.
