Show Time - 9:00 a.m. at the Tom Martin Horse Arena

Classes with no competition will be awarded ribbons only
with no premium.
14.
Every exhibitor MUST remain and participate in the Grand
Entry in attire according to the 4-H dress code.
All horses MUST be under saddle & bridle except yearlings
and weanlings. There will be a flag ceremony during the
Grand Entry.
Times for noon break & Grand Entry will be announced at
the show.
A drawing will take place during the Grand Entry. All
exhibitors will be eligible to win a belt buckle and other
prizes. Exhibitors can win belt buckle only once in their 4-H
or FFA career.
An award will be presented to the Grand Champion and
Reserved Grand Champion Halter Horse or Pony in memory
of Tom Martin.
An award will be presented at the end of each class to the
first place winner of that class.
There will be a plaque awarded in the Barrel Race to the
fastest time at this Show if the arena record is beaten. The

SPECIAL RULES
(Also see 4-H & FFA Rules & Guidelines)
1.
All exhibitors must check-in between 7:45-8:45 a.m. with
horses in hand. If you are not checked in before the show,
you will not receive premiums.
2.
A horse can be identified by only one 4-H/FFA member
unless a family has only one horse.
3.
To exhibit in classes where the primary emphasis of
evaluation is the skill level of the member, ownership is not
required; however, the member must take an active role in
the care of the animal.
4.
An individual horse or pony may be entered and shown only
ONCE in each class.
5.
Stallions more than 12 months of age are not to be exhibited
in a show or used in project group activities.
6.
Not more than 3 animals may be entered by any one
member. These animals will be shown by 4-H and FFA
members only. A third animal may be entered if it is a
weanling, yearling or two-year-old and may be shown at
halter only.
7.
Yearlings and two-year-olds shall have been foaled between
January 1 and December 31 of the previous or secondprevious year, respectively.
8.
A properly fitted ASTM helmet is required at all times when
mounted on a horse or pony at the fairgrounds.
9.
Riders in English classes must wear English attire. If jackets
are optional, a long sleeved white shirt is required. All other
riders will wear solid blue riding style jeans with a belt, white
shirt or blouse with long sleeves and boots or hard-soled
shoes. Shirts must be tucked in pants at all times and ALL
CLASSES. Hats must be worn in all Halter Classes. No knit
or T-shirt type blouse or shirt will be allowed in the show
ring. Chaps are NOT to be worn. A 4-H patch on shirt is
optional, but if worn, it is recommended it be placed on the
left shirt pocket area. Violation of dress code will result in
penalty of being dropped one ribbon placing.

Walk Trot Class Requirements:
Horse and rider
combination may NOT enter in any Pleasure Class,
Stockhorse Class or Horsemanship Class today to show in
Walk Trot.
11.
Gate will be closed for all timed events.
12.
Any rule interpretations or violations will be voted on by the
Muscatine County 4-H Horse & Pony Superintendent and all
Assistant Superintendents present the day of the Show.
