Post-doctoral position in Environmental Epidemiology
A postdoctoral position is available in the INSERM team of Environmental epidemiology applied to
reproduction and respiratory health, Albert Bonniot Institute, Grenoble, to participate in an
ongoing research program to investigate the role of environmental exposures, including air
pollution, in pregnancy outcomes and respiratory outcomes.
The position offered will focus on environmental factors (air pollution, climate) influencing
preterm birth and fetal growth in the ELFE (Etude Longitudinale Française pendant l’Enfance)
nation-wide mother-child cohort and in the EDEN (Etude des déterminants pré- et post-natals
précoces de la santé de l’enfant) mother-child cohort.
Other projects include data from a genome-wide methylation platform (Illumina Infinium 450K
Methylation BeadChip) on over 600 placenta samples in EDEN that will be used to examine
epigenetic effects of maternal exposures during pregnancy and associations between methylation
patterns at birth and health outcomes in children.
The applicant will be working on one or more of these projects.
Required Skills and Experience
-extensive experience with epidemiologic or statistical data analysis using R and SAS.
-experience in managing and analyzing large-scale data
-good knowledge of epidemiologic tools
-experience in analyzing high dimensional genetic or epigenetic data is a plus.
Team
The position is located at INSERM U1209, Grenoble. The position is open for one year, renewable.
The INSERM research center U1209 “Institut Albert Bonniot” (http://www-iab.ujf-grenoble.fr/),
is a joint research center between Inserm and Grenoble Alpes University located within Grenoble
University Hospital in La Tronche. Grenoble is the second French research pole by its number of
researchers and is ideally situated within the Alps. The team has strong european and
international collaborations.
The fellow will work closely with the PI (Dr. Johanna Lepeule) and other Ph.Ds and students in the
group, as well as and with collaborators involved in the ELFE and EDEN cohorts.
